montypunisher - you can indeed..you may want to.

I think you'll find most of the professional short sellers are probably exiting in an ordinary fashion..

The satellite is in commercial service.

Its performance better than expected.

The life has been extended by 6 months and they have just won another multi million pound contract.

hopefully we're going to see the share continue to rise (recover) this afternoon on good volume - would be a reversal of downtrend..

The shorts are trying to hold the fort with 230 shares on the offer.
There is no size on the offers.

It could easily explode back up from deeply oversold conditions.

I love a good bear squeeze.

I bought @ 418, and tried for more @ 416 but didn't get them, been watching since they were tipped in RHPS a while ago - seemed good today, good rns price down due to world problems - up 5% already.

Avanti's satellite broadband ready for first customers

By David Meyer (@superglaze), 15 March, 2011 12:59

In-orbit testing of Avanti Communication's Hylas 1 satellite has been successfully completed, and the first UK customers will be able to get broadband services from the satellite next week.

On Tuesday, Avanti said testing had shown Hylas 1 was "working in conformance with specification and, in some areas, delivering higher performance than originally specified". The company said the first live customer service would be installed next week, and those 5,000 users who have constituted the test customer base would be migrated over to the live service from 4 April.

"With Europe's first fully operational broadband satellite, Avanti will now provide a range of satellite data communications services to consumers, enterprise and governmental organisations across the UK and Europe," chief executive David Williams said in a statement.

"In such a vast market with so much growth in data demand, and a strong customer base already committed, we are highly confident of achieving rapid commercial success for this powerful and flexible satellite."

According to Avanti, over 60 virtual network operators in 16 European countries have bought capacity on the service. BT is one such operator, having signed a £1.2m deal with Avanti to deliver rural broadband to parts of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

Hylas 1 was launched into orbit in November, aboard the French rocket Ariane 5. The satellite should be able to deliver broadband speeds of up to 10Mbps to hundreds of thousands of people

I can see 600p over the next couple of months Geheimnis but I would think we will require some very good contracts won to get back to 700p for a while......but I will be very happy to be wrong.

If the Japanese stock market hadn't crashed, we would have jumped 100p.
The shares are deeply oversold technically.
With operations now starting and revenues beginning to flow, this has very substantially derisked.

It is now in commercial service.

I'm quite sure we would have already made up more with such a good RNS had it not been for the sell off in general today. So maybe we are on our way again.

Superg1, I'm disturbed by the last line of your post no.4452: "Also mention of DW on a £200k loan to buy the recent shares. Whoooops".

Who lent DW a loan, and when? Do you have a reference, please?

Re supposrt at 400 Marksnsparkle, I kept on thinking that 600 was the firm support . . . then 500.

I hope you are right.

News like this and fantastic contract win, for any other share, would have sent it soaring, but the best we seem to be hoping for is that it holds its own.

"Again CEO of Eutelsat went on record last night (French tv) stating that there is too much demand and not enough capacity to satisfy satellite broadband in France. The company is looking at other satellites but not until 2013 at the earliest and is seeking government funding."

I don,t think people realise how significant that is for avn .

Thanks gg - good find.
