Have a feeling that if the share price rises today the shorters will be edgy and want to cover their shorts with a good profit after such a steep downturn, if they can, then watch out for fireworks.Perhaps alot of experts are pouring over the analysis from both sides of the arguement at the moment.

Just looked on IG's platform and they've got us as 505 to buy . . . and 526 to sell!!!
I'd love to be able to go for that:-)

Tsmith - stupidly yes. But made up some of the losses elsewhere.

Restassured - we will just have to disagree on this, I believe all shareholders are responsible for their actions. It is their decision to buy and their decision to sell. If they allow someone to influence their decision, well, again that is their decision. After all SC will have to buy them back, and I too hopes he burns, but his money, his gamble.

I think it will be extremely hard to prove wrongdoing against anyone, but these guys don't become wealthy for nothing, underhand methods and what you can get away with seem to be the name of the game,not very moral or in the spirit of things. if you were shorting these would you be complaining?
With a bit of luck these will bounce and the shorters will burnnnnnnn

I suggest you look at the FSA rule book.

I am a big boy and can withstand paper losses,however it f%$%S all the small investors and that is criminal.

SC has done nothing wrong, he has come on here telling you he is shorting the company and his reasons why. As a lot have you have done saying why you are buying the shares. I see no reason why there is a big fuss. His info may be wrong, but that is his opinion, after all there is a lot of people who have posted info that is wrong.

As for being stopped out, well if you believed in the company, wouldn't you adjust your stops?

I don't agree with the methods employed, but I am not letting it worry me. After all, why? I am not looking short term so to me this is a blip.

IG is reporting the price as up 32 points (or 6.49%) @ 526.31 on the offer ... apparently trading by phone direct with market makers has commenced ... and LSE is expected to be back soon

Isn't it lovely not to have to watch the share price falling all day today!! Mind you we could be in for quite a shock one way or another when things start moving again.

Probably all part of the shorters plans!!

Thats not the point Greengiant, opinion to short is fine but posting wrong information in his position and not having the courage to correct it when it has been pointed out leave a lot to be desired. That is one of the things he is totaly out of order on.

Stop letting SC wind you up, he has an opinion and he at least is using his own money (however I'll gotten) to back up that opinion. Fair play to him.

Me, I believe in avn and am quite happy to say thanks to SC for giving me the opportunity over the past 3 days to increase my holding by 50%. If you have a deep understanding of the company and if you trust what has so far been an excellent management team then these drops should not worry you. In fact they should be seen in the glass half full context. If however, you are spooked then, with all due respect and not wanting to sound condescending, but have you done enough research?

I was lucky to get 100k shares in the 180's and then cursed when it went over 600p. Now have bought 50k more at an average of 520. Worried? Not at all, over the next 2 years I am expecting to see a significant return. The house broker reckons a 4x return. I will settle for that kind of return in 2 years thanks.

Always go back to the reasons why you bought in the first place.

Well he was peddling a "dodgy dossier" which was factually BS and has been refuted point by point.

The tactics were exactly the same.

don't think you can draw parallel between PDX and AVN.

On facts and fundamentals SC may well be right on PDX but quite the opposite on AVN

perhaps it could be construed as spreading disinformation via high profile contacts plus their name to drive the share price down, Investec, one would have thought , have a reputation to protect and wouldn't do this sort of thing

Interesting point rest, I think they were also very bearish on pdx previously and as you know this is another SC bear!! I may be wrong but remember something, there is definitely a link here! Insider dealing on the back of an analyst , now that would be interesting!
