24/2/2011 14:32 | wouldn't put it past hedgefunds for purposely confusing fearful share holders as the technology involved is difficult to grasp, they can always say after covering their holdings that they had made a mistake and their analysis was incorrect | ![]() malcolmmm
24/2/2011 14:31 | So what is IG Investecs argument, case for sell and target 488p Tiswas ? | ![]() yorgi
24/2/2011 14:29 | Agreed Leluot :-) | ![]() yorgi
24/2/2011 14:12 | Quite extraordinary that 'experts' can vary in their estimates between 488p and £20 !!! Some chance the PI has!!! Pretty clear who is winning at the moment. And NO its not great news. Very few of us have any funds left to top up below £5. | leluot2
24/2/2011 13:56 | Great news, so hopefully it will go down a little bit more so we can all top up at an even better price | ![]() 2vdm
24/2/2011 13:56 | Wow..... my question answered as I was typing!!! | ![]() greyseal
24/2/2011 13:55 | Has SC stated a target price for his short? | ![]() greyseal
24/2/2011 13:54 | According to IG Investec have a sell and 488p target price. | ![]() tiswas
24/2/2011 13:49 | sg31 I am sure that was the intention - but what a result!!! Much better that they should counter the argument of the bears and put the facts right. | leluot2
24/2/2011 13:17 | The director buys were more likely a signal to the market that they were confident about their business plan. | ![]() sg31
24/2/2011 13:12 | I am not 100% certain on the rules about directors buying and price sensitive information, but as I can gather they cannot buy within 28 days of the information. And so to me the directors buying now and not waiting until the share price drops further is quite key here. We are all hoping to have information regarding Hylas 1 by the end of Q1 i.e just after the 28 day period. But could it be that the directors are expecting to announce new news as soon as "in operation" RNS comes out such as major contracts, which are dependant upon "in operation". THis share is definately trying my patience but I am sitting tight on this one and believe we are in for a good Q2 | ![]() greyseal
24/2/2011 12:26 | Yorgi I agree and I will be looking for my 3rd top up over the next couple of days as this offers great value now.I believe the current sentiment and/or various African/M East crises will resolve themselves, and in a few weeks we will get a progress report on H1. At the same time, we are now at the start point in the 12 month run up to H2 which will be tempting for institutions, who will have to decide whether to get onboard before or after H1 news. Very tempting for them at these prices and their analysts will have no difficulty assessing SC's views versus the rest out there. | ![]() 2vdm
24/2/2011 11:17 | Don't forget the hedge fund that is shorting AVN at the moment is probably putting a lot of effort into it and it would now appear helped by SC and also political trouble elsewhere is helping. | ![]() yorgi
24/2/2011 11:17 | Director buys can't preclude big contract news, it's called insider dealing. | ![]() superg1
24/2/2011 11:14 | Lelout, I'm not sure that confidence is shattered, yes the share price has been hit big time but have holders who have some understanding of the business had their confidence shattered, I don't think so. I for one am quite prepared to say mine isn't. Disappointed to have seen the share price fall this far and my profit disappear yes but I still believe in AVN's business and their ability to make a profit in the not to distant future. AVN are not relying on a placing to raise any capital at the moment or in the foreseeable future so the short term fall in the share price does not matter that much, accept for anyone who want to realise some of their capital. As for them releasing an RNS, I'm not sure what they can say other than what they had said recently other that Simon Cawkwell thesis was rubbish. TW has said that for them ! | ![]() yorgi
24/2/2011 11:10 | I think Argy2, events here are defying logic for the time being. So perhaps young John can be forgiven. I dont know about you but I for one am certainly confused. I have seldom read so many bullish comments about a company at the start of the year - including a Techinvest Nap at 660p - only to find this astonishing collapse. The only excuse I can offer is that it happened at the time I decided to buy the shares! Sorry folks. | leluot2
24/2/2011 11:10 | Ultimately directors don't buy shares in the cpmpanies they manange to lose their own money, so don't read too much into it. Yes, they have to abide by the rules being in a priveledged position re inside info, so here's the question 1) If you were a director AND believed in your company's potential AND 2) was allowed, (within the rules) to buy your c ompany's shares AND 3) now saw your company's shares at over 20% below recent trading levels....... WHAT WOULD YOU BE TEMPTED TO DO? Personally, as a long term holder, I am happy to see directors investing here. I accept that might take a completely different view if I wanted profits out of this company in the next 12 months. Only my view fwiw | ![]() 2vdm
24/2/2011 11:03 | Must be some logic there John. Filter him then ask about what he said.lol | ![]() argy2
24/2/2011 11:02 | Instead of worrying about buying more shares why dont the Directors tackle the adverse comments head on and put out a statement? Confidence has been shattered here for the time being. | leluot2
24/2/2011 10:59 | Simple answer to that John, No :-) | ![]() yorgi
24/2/2011 10:59 | Volsung contributed "not good" - which under the present circumstances is about as good as it gets!! | leluot2
24/2/2011 10:54 | Did Volsung say anything useful? I've got him/her on filter from a while ago. John | ![]() 2350220
24/2/2011 10:42 | Re the Director buying, If I've understood anything correctly, surely the directors mustn't buy a big wodge just before a major contract announcement, as that would surely be seen as dealing with Insider Information. That is, assuming that they are heavily involved, or at least knowledgeable about any contract negotiations. Or have I misunderstood something about this? This does all make me wonder if Status Quo have some part in Avanti's share price, thinking of their song from a hundred years ago 'Down Down, Deeper and Down'!! Let's hope we can get back to singing Yazz's one hit wonder 'The Only Way Is Up' John W | ![]() 2350220
24/2/2011 10:36 | We know the hedge fund is shorting aggressively now but how much are they being helped by the wider weakness in the market due to the unrest in the M/E and Libya ??? | ![]() yorgi |
