I suppose the problem with satellites is that however fast the transmission speed, the 0.75 second latency means that the apparent speed cannot exceed the equivalent of about 2mbps. Over twice the speed I currently get but still quite slow - perfectly good for back-up, however, which is what it's really designed for.

New technologies will include advances in satellite broadband technology, speed etc and services provided, I cannot see Avanti standing still ,they will stay in vanguard imo also the area covered is vast

Some people are negative about Avanti, citing new technologies being developed and that there are competitors. They are right but they have missed the point.
It takes a lot lead time to put new technology from the invention stage into commercial use. Furthermore the market is big enough to accommodate more than one provider in satellite broadband. What is important is the use of the satellite's capacity, revenue, cash flow and payback period. By the time that new technologies are implemented and competitors eat into Avanti's market share, its satellites will have reached the end of their useful lives and would have earned the company lots of money.

Satellite is operational Chrissey but just not in service yet......and yes when the happens and news released along with more contract wins which we should get over next few weeks then I would expect the share price to be heading north of 700p again

I agree with your comments and general sentiment superg1, you don't need to apologise for not being negative but, considering the view of some on this bb, I can fully understand why you might think to.

My expectation is that we will at least see some positive move (where from and to where, I don't know) once the satellite is operational.

Looking at what the chart guys say and my understanding of it, it should bounce off the 640 range back to the 700 mark.

If it breaks through 640 by any significant amount it may continue down to find it's next support level.

I think someone said the SMa's had crossed. That is not apparent on the 20,50,200 range, but it's worth watching for that 20 50 cross over if it comes.

The director sells were purely to cover the tax change if you look at the timing. Employee benefit schemes used to be tax free. The Gov closed the loophole in Dec. Can you blame the BOD for saving a bit of cash.

So nothing behind it other than that really imo.

Nobody seems to have spotted or mentioned it other than me.

drifting down on market sentiment after director sells, they will be making money before long, thats what will elevate the share price to a sensible level.

Yorgi: Yes I hold AVN & BLINKX to balance my Commodities. Also hold Sunkar Resources (fertiliser) as another bit of diversification. So long as Avanti provides a good return over the year, I'm not worried about short term moves.

Yes Plasybryn that is my thinking and hence not sold and taken my profits but staying for the longer term with much more to come.

I do understand why some are taking their profits with oil and mining stocks doing so well at the moment although I see a fair bit of profit taking today on them. I did give it thought yesterday I admit but I have a large part of my portfolio in mining and oil already so decided not to move any from here.

We are still well in the trading range, so just patience needed IMO. You never know when the next big contract win announcement will be made.

Well yorgi et al - I sold out today, but will be back, I am sure.
After a few top slices this has brought me a lovely profit of about 70% on a full year basis. Other fish to fry for now and think this might be stuck for a little while. Still very much on my monitor though and will be back at the first sign of movement. Good luck to you all and thanks ever so much for info and support. Talk soon. Ian
