yorgi - indeed. You could see it was being hit by shorters. I was sorry to see a few go but in the end I have to play by my rules or one day I'll get caught by a nasty.

Two short term targets for me; one to break 700p on the bid and hold, then we might head back towards that 750+p area from the post launch rather rapidly.

Yes looking a lot better again but if you look at the graph of the share price over the last two years nothing out of the ordinary I would say.

I would say we are well positioned for a good 2011

2.5% at the moment Smarm and not complete silence :-)

2% up and complete silence.

I guess the shorters are sizzling and everyone else sold, is that it?

Well...I'm still here. I had to let some positions go on a trailing stop, those are my rules but I still have quite a few.

IB - spend some time going through RNS' from 2008 and you will see the number and average size of AVN's contracts. Given the delays it will be interesting to see how much of it materialises but it certainly gives us a feel for how keen providers all over Europe are to get the service.

Everyone, really...just spend some time looking through the last two years' RNS'.

That was more like it today, I would guess we creep back towards 700 by 10 January! Then a good 2011. But I acknowledge fully that other posters have the right to a different view. The value of your investment could go down and you mayu not get back what you originally invested. Oh and bah humbug!! :-)

Avanti Communications* - Successful launch of Hylas 1 de-risks valuation. Contract wins accelerating. Reiterate Stance of Strong Buy with a valuation range between 1,079p and 2,194p

no share goes up in a straight line, just love that chart, under 200p in Jan 2009 to over 600p now, they are doing something right

wendsworth - it is natural when one has sold a share to want it to go down. And you issue wise words re pumping...go and look at HAWK, or PXS or maybe you remember Bioprogress/Meldex.... or any number of pumped stocks. Nothing valued as something.

But there has been no obvious pumping here.

Brokers are always bullish, that's the nature of the business. They are given facts by companies and they produce forecasts based on the info given. If the info is wrong then the forecast is wrong.

We know the capacity of Hylas 1 and 2 and we know the life expectancy, so unlike investing in Vodaphone, for example, where we cannot predict share of market, what we can do on AVN is say...if they fill to capacity and run at full capacity then their revenue will be X. It's up to us as investors to decide whether they will fill the satellites and whether we trust the margin.

We are working on assumptions...if they are correct then £10-£20 is possible, if they are not then the price will fall. You have made your choice and we have made ours. By the end of 2011 we will better know who was right.

altom - these are new contracts in addition to those that have already been announced. Go and spend half an hour looking through RNS' from the start of the year.
