Arrived early which very fortunately gave me the opportunity to speak to Alistair and as luck had it, Eliot too.

We discussed the recent selling, and AS said the seller was now out completely. Those who took part in the placing need to hold for 3 years for EIS (
LG upfront payments have to be recognised across the term of the agreement - unconfirmed but thought possibly 3 years.
JPMorgan event was very encouraging.
LG deal had led to increase in approaches by potential customers (some who had been approached previously or had gone cold).
LG near-term milestones were all “scientific” and so within our gift to control.

Event was very well attended: Chairman; CEO; CFO; non-execs & senior managers from the company, several analysts and at least 6 PIs

Presentation now on website (

Several questions, all from PIs

Genuine excitement by more than one board member regarding the tufts collaboration. During the presentation, AS stressed how the work being done with tufts underpinned much more valuable deals in the future.

Moderna update anticipated H1 (which could trigger revenues)

LG upfront and near term numbers will hopefully be quantified in the interims.

Cashed up on current plan into 2020.

Similar companies to research:
Pieris (US)
Molecular Partners (Swiss)
Ablynx (acquired by Sanofi for $4.8bn)
Crescendo, Design Works etc.

I got some time with Amrik and we discussed some potential within the neurological space but effectively, there are so many opportunities that they are not currently looking for new work that isn’t being done to order so to speak. Amrik seems a top bloke and came across as genuinely excited by the opportunities ahead.

What a ridiculous comment about GSK. They are very underweight in the whole biologic drug area so probably the last company you would expect to sign a deal with Avacta. You clearly know nothing about the pharmaceutical industry and how it works.

Everyone entitled to an opinion yes.

But looking backwards and blaming the company for your losses will get you nowhere.

Better to sell up and focus your energies elsewhere if you don't believe in the prospects or buy more at the current price and average down if you do.

Just one more thing.
I do have an investment in GSK
The question you may want to think about is why don't GSK have an investment in Avacta?

Oh,
Well let them eat cake!
Good luck and just keep punting.
FYI my shares are firmly in the bottom drawer.
I am a long term investor.
But still entitled to an opinion.

Those buying in now or thinking of buying are not interested about a raise at 1.20 a few years ago. It has no relevance to the current opportunity. The market looks forwards, not backwards.

Investors are quite rightly getting excited at the fact that the company has recently signed a deal with LG Chem for a potential $310 million. As the CEO says, it was a "landmark agreement" and the market has clearly warmed to the shares on the back of the news.

The excitement is that the LG Chem deal, whilst massive in itself, looks to be the first of multiple potential deals of a similar magnitude. The opportunity at the current price is significant and the company much further advanced than it was when the price was 1.20.

Tony we’ve heard it all before, you are like a broken record. Everyone who is invested is delighted with the present rise and progress apart from yourself! If it’s too much of punt for you then why not sell & buy GSK?

Hey All ,let's be fair Avacta raised 20 million plus at 1.20 a few years ago and now everyone is getting excited about fifty pence.
Meanwhile, the Brokers are predicting £1.20 four years later!
Well that's the City for you ...they just keep taking the fees!
Lets hope Avacta make it.
But it's still a punt.
