Lots of buys going through today....good news on the way? |
Not really, fall in share price wholly disproportionate to what's happened. Must be negative sentiment around BREXIT for a business that has lots of interests in Europe. Fundamentals haven't really changed that I can see (apart from drop in profits, probably short term only). |
That is brexit effect for you. Contracts negotiated pre-vote and pound smashed.. thanks to all the leavers. Europe is AUKs market! |
Someone buys 20k and the price drops 12%. Any ideas what's going on? |
The results weren't too bad, the rest of the group's performance was hit by a large loss in Russia.
Still got net cash and still paying a reasonable dividend.
I sold half of mine after the finals, i've got a feeling we're going to see a period of price weakness with Brexit hitting property stocks hard, but i'll hang in there.

Good to see Nicholas buying a few more. Looking good value at this level. |
All quiet here. Even the recent drop on results didn't generate any comments. Good quality business and hopefully brexit is just short term blip before we return to growth. Some buys today so someone thinks there is value here based on revenue up, still making profit and paying divi. Would be good to see directors taking advantage of the lower share price ..perhaps they've got enough already? |
" Middle East positioned for further growth "
IMO very dangerous in view of the oïl situation. Add in huge overspends like the "World" artificial dune developement now on hold due to lack of funds (& buyers?) after their "Palm Tree3 extravaganza, & a near state6bankruptcy not so long ago, a situation saved by a neighbour's bail out.
Most Arab countries are somewhere I would not invest as their policy towards money is still feudal, corrupt and naïve. They could well shoot themselves in the foot &, being a tad egotistic, they'll use a Kalashnikov!
At least Iran & Saudi have cooled down.....for now. ____
I'm happier with Waterman. GLA. |
Good to see another sensible acquistion yesterday and some upward movement in the share price today |

I think I'd have to agree with you foxman. Obviously the UK is the big driver of profits and the company appears to be forecasting a slowdown here. Just how cyclical is this though? It would take a fairly substantial drop in profits before I would feel that the stock was expensive at the price I paid. Reminds me a bit of NWT which also announced excellent results and cautioned on the outlook. Having released their interims on the same day as AUK reported it appears that even on the reduced earnings they are still only on a p/e of about 10 and have a fat pile of net cash propping up the balance sheet. |
Just been trying to fathom where a p/e of 6.5 lies in the general scheme of things..and ended up in advfns "value plays" toplist which contains 44 shares with p/e in single figures and dividend yield greater than 3%. Top of the list!!! by virtue of alphabetical order.....Aukett and there are only 20ish shares in the list with a p/e lower than Auketts. |
Sorry I can't agree there was no 'caution of what may be ahead' in yesterdays statement. The last sentence of the last paragraph in the UK section stated 'However, we now see the market having less momentum in the future and this will be further tempered by higher construction costs being evidenced in the market'.
In my opinion it was this statement that brought about yesterdays selling. |
And it's down again today! As you say, very frustrating. They continue to deliver great results without any caution of what may be ahead. The reaction to the half year results was disappointing and yesterday even more so. But let's think positively....we're investing in a great company; in a falling market, AUK has been a useful defensive position as the share price is about where it was two years ago; they are paying a decent dividend; and one day it may fly. Keep the faith....our day will come! Patience is a virtue! |
did i miss the "we are going bust" line in the report? Are architects now things of the past?
I am clearly in need of instruction or therapy....just do not understand. Still, collect the divi and wait another year! On the other hand, they might not make it if the heavyweights have their way |
....and in a bear market, why doesn't this company stand out as an opportunity? |
What does this company have to do to get the share price to move north?! |
Couldn't agree more. I will be adding when funds permit as this is still grossly undervalued. |
Excellent report indeed. I will continue to add as and when funds permit. |
In a bull market +50% |
Results out today and they are excellent.
EPS of 1p and decent cash generation. Net cash is actually up after the acquisition they made earlier in the year.
It'll be interesting to see how the price reacts today. |
A strong set of numbers indeed and looking good for the future. Well done! |
Hi DM,
Other than I'm happy add hold and add there is nothing that I can share. Feel free to contact Beverley.
Lets just say that I'm confident that there are no unsavoury surprises in store based on reading between the lines when speaking to Beverley last week. |
