but seeing as you are just a Captain Hindsight fantasy share trader, you definitely wouldn't meet any of the eligibility criteria for being a Sophisticated investor and deemed capable of short-selling anything.

Of course you are Captain Hindsight - but here's the problem:

You don't know how to short-sell, you don't have any collateral, you can't put up any margin, you haven't signed a Complex Investments & Derivatives agreement and you don't have a stockbroker that accepts short-selling Orders.

On the subject of inadequate working capital, it is worth noting that ASOS (ASC) currently has a £500 Million convertible bond in issue, which is due to be redeemed in April 2026.

It is highly unlikely that ASOS will be able to repay and redeem it, and the conversion option is deeply out of the money.

With a current market capitalisation of only about £400 Million, ASOS has very limited options to deal with the debt.

Worse still, the bond currently only trades at about 65p on every £1



Realistically it is only a matter of time before the bondholders will own ASOS and ASOS's ordinary shareholders will get wiped out.

ITS MORE BAD NEWS FOR RETAILERS - UK RETAIL SALES SAW A SIZEABLE DOWNTURN IN JUNE

According to the latest CBI distributive trades survey, retail sales in the UK experienced a notable decline in June, reversing the temporary uplift observed in May.

The survey revealed that retail sales volumes fell sharply, with a weighted net balance of -24, which is a significant drop from May's balance of +8.

It also highlighted that sales were well below the average for this time of year, and are expected to continue their decline into July.
