I wonder what the next dividend will be? |
Yes I saw the 7day bit too... So how would that work if a 150p bid arrived after that time? Presumably the shareholders would vote for 150 regardless of what the BOD has provisionally agreed - though I am no expert in these matters? |
Another important point stated in the announcement is that the commitment is only binding if a bid at a price 10% above the current offee ..... and only if a counter bid is announced within seven days of the date of this announcement, hence the short term speculation |
It seems to suggest that if another bid come in 10% higher then all bets are off with bid 1. So that's the target then for another suitor.Given the current bid is cash and has been accepted in principle by the BOD I am trying to see the downside here barring a complete market meltdown and it seems someone is happy to buy above the bid price so sitting back and enjoying the situation (for once !) |
Apparently that 15.2 % stake is not binding if another higher offer comes in (thank heavens). I think the BOD are doing the right thing - shaking the suitors to flash their cash. This Bull market cannot go on indefinitely, but those who can see that often get their timing out. So if the Grexit happens (probably will), after things settle down we could have another bull year for trading before the Bears take over (hopefully longer). On the other hand ??? |
At 126p I'll more than double my investment but I still think the price is low for the capability and prospects of the company and hope that a competitor will value Anite at more and be spurred on to offer considerably more to stop Anite falling into Keysight's hands and beyond their reach. If anyone else had an interest in buying the company, now they will have to come out of the woodwork before it's too late for a counter bid. Interesting times! |
pico I see it has eventually happened but the price! OK I suppose for the short term traders but for the long term investors it looks low . Hope you get your counter bid. Cheers |
I hope you're right pico, I would have expected a higher sale price.
I'll be in profit so can't complain, but think this price undervalues the co! |
I agree Irene. The offer ends apparently in October, so plenty of time & we know that there are other suitors. Keysight (from memory) were spun off because they were a bit of a dead loss to Agilent. China Telecom are totally global but none too keen on Americana. We shall see. There must be another suitor out there who will go to 150p at least !!!
So far they have 15.2 % stakes accepted by a couple of institutions. |
pico
Well. well, well! Now there's a surprise. I thought the board were ready to retire and now we have this. An offer that seriously undervalues the company. My old dad must be turning in his grave (as you know he founded this company). I can remember back to when these traded at 300p and not long ago at 150p. I wonder who else might make a bid - the Chinese aren't going to be too keen on dealing with what is a subsidiary of an American company which was spun out of Agilent who had a partnership agreement with Anite a few years ago.
Lets hope that an alternative suitor presents themselves. I am certainly not happy voting for this at this price but it will be up to the institutional investors at the end of the day and I expect them to vote for the fast buck.
AGM July 1st I think. I'll be there I hope. |
![](/p.php?pid=profilepic&user=picobird) werty5 Funny enough the course that I am finishing this week had it's penultimate webinar last night. I now have 2% ingrained in my head compared to your 1%. Being a cheapskate I am not paying 500 notes for their final course (sprat to catch a mackerel) but have invested .99p in a Kindle book entitled something like ' 500 pips towards a successful forex trading strategy'. Not interested in FX trading, only equities but the maths is the same. There is a magic formula of (memorised) Trading size = pip Location/ pip value . Anyway, there are 12 magical candlestick signs & together with a sensible trading strategy should make investing much safer (Anite was based on fundamentals). Thanks for the offer anyway werty, but I should be okay now. Have a couple of companies that I want to pursue. Must agree that the BOD have done well over the years & it does give us shareholders a chance to move on with hopefully a higher offer being made in the coming weeks.
Thanks Butmac - you seem well on the ball with TA like werty5. |
"Agreed about the M & A talk but these analysts are putting it about which includes Liberum."
You had it right Pico well done and good luck with your TA |
I've sold out. Whilst the offer is great news, I do think they sold out too cheaply. I would have wanted at least 140p a share. Their may be counter offers, but I'm not all that confident becasue the management have whole heartedly supported this deal which is a bit perplexing if they felt it undervalued the company. If they thought their was more in the tank, surely they would have just advised an offer had been made but not yet reached which would have got other potential bidders interested. Perhaps their's some nasties in the results? Who knows. But I've taken a good profit in a short time so happy with that. If you still hold, best of luck! |
Trading at a small premium to the offer.... Market pricing in possibility of another offer?. I plan to hold for the moment and see what develops.... |
Simon Thompson of IC has scored a bull's eye here. In his article on 26/5/15 he recommended Anite as a strong buy and even mentioned Keysight Technologies as a potential bidder. His target price at year-end was 110p. |
So what happens now?Do we sell at 126 or can it go higher lol |
When IC published their two page analysis of AIE at the end of May & mentioned Keysight, I thought at the time that there may have been a tip off to help the share price along. The fact is sentiment has become positive with this company & other suitors cannot be ruled out. There are some huge customers like China Telecom which makes this offer price look rather silly. |
Do we trust the BoD? Personally, I feel they have done a good if under-publicised job. Unless there is some other reason to doubt their recommendation, such as them moving to take up positions with the takeover company, I will respect their advice.
However, I do have mixed feelings over this. Let us hope there are other bidders waiting to be flushed out. It would appear that Anite is now a successful company on the way up and the offer price does seem cheap. |
As Ray Winstone says in the advert, sometimes you just got to take the money and run. I bought these shares 3 weeks back. Very happy. |
Thanks davROs. At least I am completing a TA course this week which puts me in a more knowledgable trading mode. Hopefully more suitors will be flushed out. No more eggs in one basket for me from now on - :-))
Thanks werty5 GLA |
Got to be realistic Pico this is an initial offer and not a bad one considering the current share price. A company which makes an offer for another company at over double the value would not be doing it's job right and would have it's shareholders up in arms. Remember this is only an initial offer and it might bring further offers from other parties. I understand that you might more than a little upset being a long term holder and someone who clearly understands the business and the company of anite better than most. I on the other hand don't perhaps have the same emotional attachment and was only ever in for profit so see take over bids as a bonus just a case of how far up the greasy pole this will take us??? |
Having only re entered this share in the last 2-3 weeks so I can't sniff at a 20% gain! but it does look a steal for the acquirer and surprisingly done and dusted. Surprised they didn't announce they were under offer and create a bidding process - though I wonder if this will still flush out other suitors and push this higher? But all in all taking any emotion out can't complain of a 20% gain for the month.Pico, you have been here for years and when the price was higher so can understand your views too. |
Congratulations to all holders, this is superb news that we've been greatly rewarded, the BOD deserve great credit for this. |
