ok biggles - what about spending plans for the 30 mil - should we know the plans or not - before deciding (in theory) about pros and cons of a JV and its long term benefits to us? ok we get cash soon. 15 % of it only. meaning the unkonwn spending plans should be even better (even better returns at the same risk level) khmmm than existing situation imho

But we were told they want to diversify into gold no doubt for the very reasons COVID is effecting their business. Gold is the ultimate hedge as we know.

In fairness they've insisted on anonymity since MOU was announced so it not sudden developments which have suddenly altered their stance. May be the way Turks do business perhaps ???

Not quite with you on blind trust issue. I certainly don't blind trust anyone when I've a million quid invested! They have said the new JV partner wants anonymity for whatever reason and they are respecting that however nothing is agreed until the shareholders ratify the deal and we can all see the details. We aren't being asked to agree to anything blindly. It's quite nice that some posters are saying they are leaning against the deal albeit without full details known because it means the shareprice won't tank if the deal doesn't go ahead. I think we all know this is undervalued deal or no deal.

I too believe that any construction company with that sort of cash might find it difficult to part with it as the economic future for that sector could be challenging and if it was a good deal for them this would have been sorted,just my view and for what’s it worth I am beginning to favour no deal

I hope this is the last time that AAU reqired blind trust from its shareholders. As if it becomes a habit it is a no go for me.

blind trust on "partner", "JV small print", where exactly 25 mil will be going next(as this is important to decide if I would vote on JV go ahead or not). I do not get it why not being open at this stage (to some general degree)?

That is the problem when you join the party a little late, you loose the benefit of "context" when reading these articles. At the time of the report no one on this board was in any doubt what the true situation was.

Not seen this article before and I'd say the language is pretty misleading. It is only a few months old and very clearly says we are sitting on a 30m pound cash pile (pounds not dollars). Always happy to trust Biggles' word on it though given what we know about his holding and communication with the company. On another point, it is a great story that I don't think Ariana make enough of as it says a LOT about Kerim. Think they should milk it a bit more.

I don't accept this wanting to remain anonymous thing. How many major Turkish construction businesses are there? I suspect most people in that world know who the partner is. Without knowing anything about that sector isn't the most likely explanation that they may have trouble at their end, whether funding issues, a major project losing money, who knows?

Konil the cap ex debt is now clear which will result in profit of the order of £1m per month to AAU. Kerim invested £35000 in a lithium project and turned this into £3m a couple of years ago to help with mine costs. Part of the excitement of the deal is $30m cash will give $5 m indicated dividend to shareholders and $25m to utilise . Their exploration success via modern technology and utilisation of satellites KS developed at Southampton in locating minerals is second to none in the industry in terms of $ per ounce exploration cost. This technology applied in Cyprus is very exciting (read Chesterfield resources latest rns it give a lot of info re Cyprus where we are buying in 50% of exploration company Venus minerals. A second mine is near the building stage this will be funded by debt presumably same bank as previous. If you want any further info just ask the board. No questions are stupid and it helps everyone understand.

The new partner wants to remain anonymous perhaps they don't want to raise awareness to their direct competition as to their strategic intent. I assume they weren't anticipating "hiding" it for so long but it is what it is.

been doing a bit more reading...seems aau have £30m cash in the bank (dec 2019)?

if correct, for me that's a wow! one of the reasons i bought in was the company going debt free...didn't twig they already had £30m.

may soon be followed with $30m if new jv goes ahead.

sorry for the newbie stuff, just getting stuck in.

do they still have that £30m? or has it been spent in the interim?
any comments on the cash position from the cognoscenti here?
