I top-sliced a total of 300k at 3.05 and 3.44 but bought them back today at 2.88. Nex are showing it as a sell.

Timing does not have to be perfect Biggles, however if market suddenly turns will get caught out.
As a child i remember one time our house wasn't flooded because it was at the top of a slight hill, we became a island. I have always remember that lesson and have only bought houses near the top of a hill. I have a good memory and learnt my lesson in the last big stock market crash. To me market looks like it is still falling, will sit on hands on a hour by hour basis.
We have the double whammy corona virus and Britexit, do think this corona virus is overdone unless they telling us porkies.

ONLY if they go back in!! If they don't go back in then over next few months they will lose. So difficult to time markets because you've not only got to time when you pull out but when you go back in. People who time taking money are rarely spot on when they reinvest which is why it's always or nearly always better to remain invested if you are not taking profits to spend

Most of the gold stocks I follow are doing the same as AAU - it is a bit galling to think that the top-slicing advice may have been very well timed!!

I've just been topping up gradually so if I intend to top up say 450k I'll do a third now third tomorrow etc. Compromise is name of game

Absolutely Biggles, the bargains are beginning to appear, but as you say they will disappear even faster than they appeared ! Should i top up now or wait a bit is the question ? Wait a bit i think or maybe now hmmm.

The way I look at this is markets are tanking cos of Coronavirus so gold and silver will only go one way. This can only be good for AAU. Potential deal giving cash equating to market cap. No cap ex loan in two months. The 6% fall is on trades of £25000 only therefore the fall is not logical and as such I feel the bounce will be dramatic . On that basis I added at 2.88. Fortunately I've seen this behaviour over thirty years but what I've argued is logical. Admittedly markets can be illogical but in my experience only over a short term . Anyway good luck all!!

2007/8 was a liquidity crisis and so everything suffered initially. This isn't and so I would expect a flight to profitable companies as soon as dust settles

If the wider market collapses pretty much every sector goes down initially, including gold miners (and gold). As I recall, in 2007 the only asset that rose at first was the dollar (maybe JPY as well). Shortly after gold and gold miners disconnected from the wider market and shot up.

Can't see that. It's general fear regarding Coronavirus but logically it shouldn't affect AAU in negative way. In fact should be positive due to gold being a safe haven . MMs playing the market . I agree top up opportunity

Surely selling at 3.2p isn't topslicing when it was 3.6p a few days ago lol
