i think i am right that ARK listed in late september 2000, just over 3 years ago, traded above 400p, valuing the company at more than £1300m, now just £30m. what will happen if it ever moves into profit?

It looks like WINS are up to their usual tricks!
They've hopped over to the offer, yet maximum online buy quantity is only 25k.
LOL!

Cash can be a double edged sword:

On the one hand it should put a floor on the valuation, on the other hand if the cash cannot be utilised in the business to add value then it should be returned to shareholders who then have an alternative use for it.

The sector may be due a major bounce, but what will Arc's share in this be?
Results due soon will not impress.

I do not understand this share. I've monitored it for months and it does not move. Why is that? It is cash rich and the sector is due a major bounce in the near future. Anmy comments appreciated as I would like to be in but don't know how to time it. TIA

This comment is a little tongue in cheek, but believe it or not, I'm trying to help...although I am risking being very patronising because you've been around here for quite a while and probably know much more than me.

Based on an original holding of 10k shares...

If you buy the same quantity again now, you'll be at breakeven at 24.75p and in reasonable profit at 26.0p, which should make you feel happier.

An 19% rise required (20.75p - 24.75p) as opposed to a 28.9% rise (20.75p - 26.75p).

:-)

If this continues to rise for a few days, in the cold light of day, which do you think is more likely...a 20% rise in a week or so or a 30% rise?

If you think it's could drop back further, wait until you buy some more.

As I say, a little cheeky, but there is method in my madness. It's what's worked well for me for the last year or so.

Looks like we're off this time. Only four mms not moved their price today and I think there's a large(ish) delayed buy coming in.

Seems to be building up a bit of momentum. Even a modestly positive outlook at the interims should give this a real boost.

Can only buy 10k online at the moment, which is strange with 2 MMs still on offer.

this share has got to be a dog, face facts its about the only tech that is still at all time lows the only thing keeping it going is its cash reserves but how long will that last?sorry to sound so negative but the writing is on the wall

I've said it before ... I am really quite baffled by this share behaviour. Sentiment is firmly negative, even though sales and profit trends over the last year or so are no worse than many others. As the wider sector improves, this goes the opposite way. I am having to re-convince myself that it still makes sense to hold and nothing has changed to my assessment of a few months ago. It is hard going against the crowd but I still feel it may be very worthwhile here.
