08/10/2003 11:10 | & out again for decent gain, last of the long-term buy-&-holders ;-) | nur0mancer
08/10/2003 09:53 | In again on brief collapse sub-20 which approximated the all-time low. Hoping for a double-bottom on candlestick chart. | nur0mancer
07/10/2003 13:13 | Market is confident about ARM. Since ARKs floatation ARM has increased sales by 50% - ARK is nearly flat. But main difference is ARM is profitable and cash generative. ARK hasn't reached that point yet. Market is worried it will not and will just consume all the cash. But if it can grow sales, then the current price will look very cheap. | kiwihope
07/10/2003 12:55 | Please explain why ARM's share price has quadrupled and ARK's has not budged - methinks the market is discounting ARK's poor performance and ARM's growth. So there is plenty of upside potential and hopefully a cash floor - but my stop loss remains in place | toffeeman
07/10/2003 12:16 | I admit I haven't been following arc all that long but since floatation in late 2000 they have had to contend with tough markets. I realise I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt for now - maybe other longer term holders may not. For me it comes down to two things. Is the lack of sales growth due to the market or the company? For now I'm saying the market (based on competitors and general research). Accepting this, the second question is will the market recover? Again, based on other news etc, I'm betting yes ... for now. So I'm going to hold until, say ARM start increasing sales and becomes more bullish. If arc follows, great! If not I'll be out. | kiwihope
07/10/2003 09:32 | At least there is plenty of cash to tide ARK over until an upturn. And many think an upturn in the industry is going to occur. | crystball
07/10/2003 09:06 | Still only one trade in the first hour on the day of a trading statement! Just about says it all. Current trading is flat and the outlook is flat. A non-event really. More patience needed - I just wish something positive would happen! | kiwihope
07/10/2003 08:40 | Q2 revenue was £2.4M so Q3 of £2.5M is more or less no change. Key is cash burn which we will have to wait for. May be some share selling as there has been no pick up in sales. But this is not unexpected - management will have to issue a positive outlook before sales figures improve some months later - and they haven't done that yet. I'm afraid that for all the improvement in wider sentiment in the semiconductor sector, there is not much evidence yet of a hard increase in sales/profits etc. Arc need to keep cash burn under tight control. We all hope they can take advantage of improving markets (next year?) and grow sales. This is a growth stock so top line sales is the big driver. Just need to conserve cash until sales begin to rise. | kiwihope

30/9/2003 14:25 | zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz will someone check it for vital signs? | nur0mancer
25/9/2003 14:22 | ARK must have an incredibly low Beta for a tech share, I keep waiting for excitement but it never materializes. Am out again for now & hoping for a vicious MM 'shake' one day to get this moving again, in the interim ARK is firmly on the backburner. Truly weird share. | nur0mancer
25/9/2003 13:41 | Just. But this will send you to sleep... According to my spreadsheet possibly (more like probably) with errors in it, I make it net buying of around 770k shares since 4/9/03 when the price was 22.5p-24.0p. The buying peaked at 2.4m net buys on 5/9/03 despite the price moving slightly higher the next day. Unfortunately, I can't make much else out though. With other shares if the market makers reach a certain level of net buying or selling, you can expect a price change. The only pattern I can see with this one (and it doesn't make sense) is that when net buying/selling reaches zero, then they put the price up. During the first fall from the peak, they were moving the price down whenever there was net selling of 50k and put the price up with net buying of around 300k. But I haven't been tracking this one long enough to suss the market makers out with this share yet or even be sure of these calculations. zzzzzz | dontknowitall
25/9/2003 13:09 | anyone still awake? | nur0mancer
18/9/2003 00:56 | When the NMS which I assume means normal market size reduces, is this a good sign? Does anyone have any idea what is going on? | crystball
18/9/2003 00:51 | Thanks ChiversJ :-) Care for some ARK while you're at it? Online Buy NMS is now down to 25k. WINS are on sole Bid but quoting 21.63, well inside the touch. | nur0mancer
18/9/2003 00:45 | Dear All, This will be fixed next week, I'm sorry for the obvious issues this bug has caused on this thread. Regards, James | chiversj
17/9/2003 23:12 | Yes Nur0mancer. I too am mystified. I would have expected some of the improving sentiment to have rubbed off on ARK. Trouble is sentiment is so fickle. Look what happened a few weeks ago, for no real reason - up 20%+ in one day. Basically I don't think that sort of volatility helps. Oh it's nice when it happens but there's no substance behind it. I think there are a lot of holders who will jump out when price rises to their buy in point (22-25p probably). This puts a block on any further rise. I'm afraid we will probably have to wait for news from the company. Hopefully a modestly improving situation at the 3rd quarter results near end Oct. | kiwihope
17/9/2003 18:06 | crystball.... If MMs reduce the NMS it means less shares will be traded electronically in nominee accounts. In other words they do'nt want day traders to get in and out on indicative share prices. MMs want to control every deal.....not good for liquidity at all. But we have an NMS 50000 which is quite inviting to day traders, but again if we are thrown out of the Tech 100 this may be revised! | gotnorolex |
