Mining is Africa is a totally dysfunctional business now. Governments are basically wrecking the long term industry for short term political and economic gain.
It is not much better in the oil industry.
I have given up on mining stocks and only hold one oiler now.

I don't understand why the market is not looking at the study of a second shaft positively. Are Impala and Aquarius really that stupid to invest 100% into a second shaft only to cede 51% to locals. There must be a positive outcome in the pipeline in respect to the indigestion for Impala and Aquarius to be considering expanding the mine. This is further backed up by Winston Chitando, chairman of the operation, saying "There are discussions which are taking place with government," Chitando said. "So far we are happy with them."

i dont understand this share...they bought ridge mining for about £100m so surely AQP is worth more than the £200m market cap?

Well their last trading update basically said the business has no future unless there is a material uplift in the price of their metals basket.
It is a very difficult situation when a company can be run really well but still face a beak future due to the fact that they have no control over the selling price of their product.
I am watching a load of miners at present but is clear that none of them are near a turning point and what is more worrying/bizzare is that a lot of them are still engaged in capex to expand production.....insane!

I think that statement lifted from the results tells you what you need to know about the near future.
I have watched this one for a long time but as I am not interested in short term trading I have not invested and wont be for the next 3 months.
