Still stand by my point, the business model is out of date in high inflationary times. No amount of digitisation is going to move it forwards IMHO...

had an email chat with Mark Thomas of Hardman today he was very helpful and says its all about progression to digital and if it works

my guess is that if hardman did that recent puff piece that current year forecasts are in the bag.

It will be interesting if they can demonstrate productivity improvements. Activity levels dropping results in fewer people anyway and I estimate c £1M p.a extra depreciation charge from IT system investments. This in principle was the right thing but I believe they lost control and overspent. They also badly managed the exit of Valley Rd and significantly undersold the site.
The new product was a flop ( gifli) so what value has the new senior team added? I can see what they've destroyed.
What is their vision and direction?
My fear is we are witnessing the creation of a zombie business and overpaying the executives for doing it.
We'll see i hope I'm wrong.

My view is yes christmas saving will be challenged but will they attract new customers doing this who previously may not have felt the need? double edged sword ?

whilst some may spend less on gifting others may feel the need to spend more because of inflation, Possibly?

Its seems an effective switch to digital is what will win or lose the day, because of cost saving benefits and roll out efficiencies

I was going to invest here but didnt after much consideration. Glad I didn't it's gone nowhere in the last month... if the results arnt good I feel for those who are long on this one I think it's going to fall victim to the squeezed household budgets and 7% inflation this year. Good luck to those who stick with it!

If the results are disappointing again i think the CEO has to go. For what APP is paying i think they could find someone much better.

I would hope that app would not allow Hardman to reaffirm the 2022 forecasts on 7th April if the co was planning a profits warning. I'd say the runes and the tealeaves would point to a neutral to positive trading statement.

Management are trying to get the message out. Chat from Hardman and it looks like a trading statement next week. There is an old adage that good figures take less time to add up than bad, so an early trading statement might be good news.

The jury is still out for me. Not impressed by the level of executive comp relative to earnings and market cap but it is very cheap.
