One of World’s Top Gold-Buying Central Banks Is Far From Sated, Uzbekistan is growing share of bullion in $32 billion reserves, Central banker says Uzbekistan has reversed plans to buy debt

The world’s second-biggest buyer of gold among central banks last quarter believes there’s hardly such a thing as too much bullion.......

I'm a purist and as such the red ball game is the greatest sport ever invented by man.
That said, I'm an Englishman and when the lads are playing the white ball game of which the T20 World Cup is the international form of beer match cricket, albeit played by some incredibly skilful people, I support them.
Having followed the live stream in the Daily Bellylaugh for what was a near perfect victory over India (no mugs) I also came across the live feed I posted above. Nothing more and nothing less.

We agree on the last line Pogue, which is why I’m never totally dismissive of lots of ideas. Reality often differs from making things happen, trading crypto just seems to be even more a minority than say trading stocks.

Talking to a Bullion dealer a few weeks back, she told me people have an expectation of value for gold, get disappointed with silver but no idea what that value is when trading in their inheritances. So can you imagine the masses getting their heads around crypto’s? Let’s not go there with digital security, that’s my problem with it all, seems complicated and flawed with added security issues. Trading Bullion has those too but you can still put preventive controls in place, whether it be where or how you trade, even storage. Just seems with crypto’s, flick of a switch, you lose control, maybe I’ll always be too much of a Crypto luddite.

Try reading what I wrote the discussion on bitcoin its on a different point not the value of bitcoin today, as SSB points out 1BTC still = 1BTC. Try reading about the topic outside the mainstream media to understand the real value of bitcoin.
How much will gold be worth if/when governments ban it? They will want no rivals to their new digital currency so its odds on they will not want anyone escaping their reset by having alternative sources of wealth. Gold is not as flexible as bitcoin to evade these sanctions.

Not doubting you can achieve it but think for the young and those with little money its not an option. Personally I have lived in remote places and never again I love cities. The working from home revolution, if it manages to stick, has massive consequences for cities though however I am now seeing hybrid working more advertised for jobs, I am always looking around for a better opportunity as I am a contractor, where its 3 days in the office 2 at home or office. I wonder if that will creep back to 5 in the office in the future either way you cannot live too far from the office it seems.
We live in interesting times, so many timelines could play out.

As it's topical on the thread today and purely for informationpurposes:

"Bitcoin could lose 80pc of its value amid a “cascade of margin calls” in the wake of the crisis at the FTX crypto exchange, JP Morgan has warned.

Analysts at the Wall Street bank said the world’s biggest cryptocurrency could tumble to $13,000 – an 80pc drop from its peak of over $68,000.

It comes as a liquidity crunch at FTX, which was founded by Sam Bankman-Fried, sends shockwaves through the volatile sector.

Rival exchange Binance last night walked away from an emergency bailout, leaving FTX on the brink.

Bitcoin is now down by almost 60pc this year. It has fallen from just under $19,000 per coin last Friday to below $15,000 today."

JB2 lol, I think if it comes to bunkers, the world won’t be much fun for living in. The rural lifestyle does appeal to me at times, laid back lazy would be great in the med, just a bit cold these parts.

Pogue, yes I could achieve it, I’ve renovated enough out buildings to sort family too, I’m not sure though it’s necessary in truth, but I’m open minded to the possibilities life throws up. Many cities would struggle. Used to get into the transition towns debate years ago, not really gone the way I expected, nor aquaponics usage maybe there’s time yet.

its a roller-coaster to start with as its a new currency without mainstream usage as a currency its currently being traded rather than used. Once it becomes more adopted as a form of trade it will settle.

its a solution I agree but wont work for the vast majority.

Think if it comes to total digital currency I’ll barter some produce and eggs, along with the wood burner, renewables or fire the jenny up, it’ll be time to go totally off grid. Where’s my prepping list again.

Preserve their capital? Yep, that’s highly debatable given the rollercoaster ride of crypto prices over the last 10 years.

When the government takes control of your life via digital currency people will find ways around it. It wont be for trading the currency people will use it mainly it will be to avoid governmental control and preserve their capital.

Maybe not in all countries but you can make the regulation so onerous as to deter only the most foolhardy and/or industrious.

you cannot shut down all crypto exchanges in all countries. El Salvador has bitcoin as a working currency, other small nations will follow especially those tied to the $ when the $ goes digital so there will always be exchanges. Access them via the dark net if the government starts interfering with the internet.
