Hmmmm.

Shanta - where the govt owe the company tens of millions in VAT but have been refusing to pay them for years

Or

Anglo Asian - where the govt have just extended the mine permit, are negotiating about further territory extensions and have always kept their word to the company.

Thanks but no thanks Dave, although I’ll be sure to drop by and say hi

Demand-drivers for copper are immense. In the rush to electrification, the shortfall will be massive. Quite happy for Anglo-Asian to go for the copper!

Well, I don't know. I've spent all these years building a position in what I thought was a gold mining company, with great potential and it could well end up as a copper miner, selling a bit of gold and galvanised tin baths on the side. I think that I shall have to reinvest future dividends into a "proper" gold miner....you know, hole in the ground, liar at the top sort of thing!

Perhaps the Soviets had the right idea after all.

An obvious predator that springs to mind (at least to me) would be CEY especially given how close Turkey and Azerbaijan are politically. They also have significant cash on their balance sheet.

lefrene.

I am thinking a £500m valuation may look to low in the next couple of years if all goes to plans.

There's also the possibility as the new resources get proved up, plus the war sites get brought back to production, that there might be a predator offering large sums to win over the aging board? This could make a nice little bolt on earner for one of the global mining groups, a mere £500 million should do it?

Yielding 5.5% and at the same time increasing cash reserves is remarkable.

A divi of 2.5% would be more generous than most explore / producers.

Put another way, the share price can more than double from here and will still offer great value.

Be great to see this nearer 280p by end of the year or sooner, about time the valuation matched the assets

Quite uncanny how your comments on the price of gold stop it in it's tracks Mattjos! :¬)

Yes, Gold on a charge … $1,950 coming up very rapidly, imo .. it only took 3 days to drop from there to $1,850 on the way down in January. Expect a similar speed of advance back up

I am loving the “Zafar” song by the Red hot Aaz team. A very exciting prospect.
Thank you all for the research.

Quite simply imo AAZ is the biggest bargain in the whole mining sector, why it remains so cheap escapes me. I don't see the geographic location as being a problem, and indeed quite a haven compared to parts of Africa and much of South America. The Azeri's are reliable, they make a deal and stick to it. As far as I'm aware they've never wrong footed the oil industry which has been there for circa 120 years.
