The article is however quite positive in its overall tone but advises followers to sell half due to the historic volatility of the share price.Countering that,there have been quite a few positive articles this weekend on the attractions of gold in the current uncertain geopolitical climate,with the indication that POG could break away from its recent range.Will be interesting to see what tomorrow brings.

It also makes it rather disingenuous for Midas to claim their tip has doubled - I doubt any of their readers were able to buy that Monday at the price quoted in the tip column. I agree mf, I doubt there will much affect on the price but if there is, I think there will be a few here buying, me included.

The one thing that AAZ got wrong this year was releasing positive news the Monday after the Midas tip, so we could not see how many people actually acted on the tip alone. I suspect the answer is not many, and even fewer will be selling on their advice on Christmas Eve.

Welcome aboard and good decision ref Lloyd’s reinvestment. All the so called tipsters have been saying Lloyd’s is a buy for last 5 years!
I bought four years ago and continue to add as still see best value here

Even Midas can occasionally pick a winner - maybe a bit unfair!

Looking pretty secure chart wise with RSI turning up and MACD looking like it's trying to turn positive. More volume should make/help the picture, but i guess the new year will bring that.

As one who bought on the back of the Midas tip, I cam say that I have been adding over the past 3 months and have no intention of selling any for a long time. There was talk the other day of cutting losses. Towards the end of Sept I sold my Lloyd's shares at a loss and bought AAZ at the time both shares were 60p, look at them now.

The question is can any of the precious metal miners also file a claim or do they have to be listed in the U.S. This is assuming the price was manipulated down wards.

Hi Mattjos,yes I am invested here now, from about 56p so bit of a late comer.Should have listened to celeritas when he pointed these out to me many moons ago in our private email exchanges.Not a resources fan but got drawn after reading some excellent posts here and elsewhere.

THE WINNER

Midas’s best-performing stock of 2018 is Anglo Asian Mining, a gold and copper miner based in Azerbaijan. Recommended at 45p in September, the shares have shot up to 90p – so they have doubled in just three months.
Anglo Asian has an eventful past. A darling of the stock market, when it joined Aim at 77p in 2005, the shares spent a decade in the investment wilderness, tumbling to 4p by 2015.

The business has been through a transformation since then.
The management team has been strengthened, processing facilities have been overhauled, new mines have come onstream and the business is now producing record quantities of gold.
Rising production and falling costs have put Anglo Asian in a robust financial position and the group announced its first dividend shortly after our recommendation, an interim payment of 3 cents (converted to 2.28p for UK investors).

A similar amount is expected for the final dividend, making a total payment of 6 cents.
The company reports in dollars, as gold and copper are traded in the US currency, but UK investors receive their payouts in pounds and pence so they benefit from sterling weakness.
Paying a dividend is seen as highly significant among Anglo Asian’s larger shareholders, proving that the company is well-managed and on a sound financial footing. Chief executive Reza Vaziri is not resting on his laurels however.

The company expects to produce more than 80,000 troy ounces of gold this year but its principal operations cover almost 400 square miles of land and Vaziri is actively exploring for new gold and copper deposits, to bolster production in the future.

Well spotted Bazboa.I thought there might be an update from MIDAS about aaz over the festive period. Nice positive article, although it does tell investors to sell half there holding which it always does when a share doubles. We shall see on monday if those that bought in take their advice. I suspect not that many bought in and still hold but we shall see.
