24/1/2018 19:12 | big move in silver today. Given JP Morgan has now cornered the silver market in a way far larger than either Hunt Bros or Berkshire Hathaway managed to, one has to wonder when exactly they are going to let the brakes off silver. There is no way they have built that horde up over the last 6 years and not sell it on one day at a huge gain. What will be the catalyst for the big silver move up? When JPM decide they have reached their target holding or, when some sort of external financial event persuades them now is the time to stop shorting it on paper and sit back with their physical mountain on offer to highest bidders? Barclays Jes Staley's comments at Davos yesterday (he is ex-JPM) suggested to me he was more than just a little cautious right now. The Chinese Yuan-denominated, oil futures contract with an option to switch Yuan into Gold via the Singapore exchange comes into being after Chinese New Year. Last two coutries with rulers that tried to trade their oil in currency other than US$ were Syria & Iraq .. USA soon knocked that on the head. I doubt they can initiate military action for regime change against china for this action! China would swat them away as if they were a fly. I believe the world is sleep-walking into the demise of the US Petrodollar right now & that will cause tectonic shifts in all markets across the globe .. only this time, more fool you if you rush into the 'safety' of the US$. It's going to very, very interesting to see who sells their oil to China in exchange for Yuan/Gold later this year. | mattjos
24/1/2018 18:57 | 2017 geo 72.5kozs @ average sale price of $1265/oz. Gold price now $1357oz, just short of $100oz more than average price for 2017 sales. Today’s price maintained for 2018 @ same 2017 geo(72.5oz) would add $7.25ml to bottom line. Gold predicted to see $1400oz this year. Mattjos charting would take us toward $1650oz. It’s understandle given those predictions why people are accumulating stock along the way. | bleepy
24/1/2018 18:52 | about time jeansey got in, isn't it? :-) | mattjos
24/1/2018 18:52 | Yes I think so bleepy. Its now pretty much impossible to acquire a large holding through anything other than consistent buying of smaller amounts. There is the odd large trade but the only really significant volume comes when the price rises and a few more take their gains. Of course at that time people just sit sweating on buying near the top and the buyer takes them instead. | jbravo2
24/1/2018 18:24 | Nice volume today, a few took the chance to sell. Metals continue to rise and demand for these should be huge in the next wee, all set for the next leg up. Will it be 60p or 80p? | jbe81
24/1/2018 17:35 | Spot on r_o_t_a. The price they're offering for your shares is around recent time highs. They are clearly willing to take decent levels of stock at these prices. They're hoping plenty will fold and take their gains. They also have a willing buyer of "loose stock" ie someone who is willing to take large chunks but never to force the price up. Hence they leave larger spread hoping to put off the smaller pi buyers and then they can supply the buyer with those they pick up. They've been reasonably successful. We've had all sorts of people moaning about not buying when its at its peak. Those peaks are all long gone and of course those worries about a penny here or there have been proved ridiculous. Those who bit the bullet are well in the money and that will only improve over the next year as it all unfolds. This is THE year to be in AAZ. Edit: yes you're right rota. Its been end of Q1 the last few years. They're upping their game on many fronts it seems. | jbravo2
24/1/2018 17:34 | I can't see any fy guidance released before April last year, is that right? Seems like the announcement due end of Jan (or first few days of Feb) is very early this year ;-) | return_of_the_apeman
24/1/2018 17:27 | My Retirement Fund fwiwimo the price is moving up and there is a lack of liquidity From the chart above you can see volume is quite good You could try a series of small buy orders placed for first thing in the morning and hope some get filled at a good price | return_of_the_apeman
