I guess the view maybe that a GOP Pres, Sen and house will be good for the dollar. Needs time to play out, maybe not gapping up 100 is healthy for gold.

All this is short term noise, nice to see gold rising though. We still have the December FOMC to get through.
If Trump really wants to break the back of corruption he needs to make the Fed accountable and weaken its power.
Interesting times ahead, will he be the first president since Reagan who isn't a corporate puppet/figurehead?

Oh no worries on the black swan front

Next is Italy's vote in Dec to change its constitution, which if passed, and Brexit and today's US election result pretty much suggests it will, Italy can hold a referendum allowing it to exit Europe. No one is talking about it but it is happening.

Next spring French elections and in Autumn German elections.

How that for black swan ...beginning of the end of the EU??

The Indian government is removing all 500 and 1000 rupee notes from circulation and replacing by new 500 and 2000 rupee notes in an attempt to combat corruption and the black economy.
Indians hold a lot of gold and this is going to make them even less trustful of the currency and make gold look even more attractive as a store of wealth for some individuals.

Not quite there yet but, Black Swan event no.2 nearly in the bag now.All the world's eyes will be on the USA today ..... my third black swan event prediction last year was for A N Other country to challenge the new USA president once he was elected.As if by magic(!) .. Putin's aircraft carrier has now arrived in the Med and is imminently about to start its aerial bombardment of Aleppo .. Putin has played a blinder & will feel even more emboldened (I believe) to take the initiative once again in Syria - a perfect time to get the job done now & with little immediate international resistance.Any more predictions zhockey / jeanesy ?? :-)
