Trump has absolutely no chance, Hillary has it in the bag.

@Solis, the strong $ is hurting the US economy, what possible benefit will that have for the elections?

I expect a Trump election would be extremely gold positive.

If you really believe in conspiracy theories then the US election will be rigged and Hilary will win. Not sure I subscribe to that school of thought but will be an interesting month!!

The rumour I prefer is that they do not want anything to interfere with the masses belief of the almighty dollar before the elections.

I don't expect any let up until after November 8th.

It's not normal market action.

The manipulation was after the September FOMC when the commercials created tens of thousands of shorts to soak up spec demand. Without those paper shorts the price could have broken $1400. Being above all its moving averages any dips would then have been bought by the computer algos.

However they soaked up demand and drove it under the 50 and 100 ma. Now rallies are sold by the algos.

This week has been normal action as the spec flush continues, the commercials dirty work was done the other week and now they can cover their shorts.

Rinse and repeat. It should be illegal and it stinks!

Oh well I expected fireworks with the PoG today but we got a damp squib. Maybe gold is just finding it's value and all the manipulation talk is just a distraction. Looking at the COT report both speculative longs and commercial shorts dropped by 10% on Tuesday, that seems to me like a market finding balance.

Who knows where the gold price will go from here, however I take solace from the fact that AAZ will be producing next year with costs circa $500/oz, down from $1000+ some time back. What an achievement by the company!

I would have expected more of a bounce in the POG considering the payroll figures missed there target. Production figures next fri perhaps. Another week closer to drilling news.

jobs figure is small miss .. coupled with latest data on manufacturing in USA, I don't see overwhelming evidence for a rate raise ahead of the November election.
More a case of the Fed trying to keep things steady away into the election to try and ease Hilary in to White House.

sure we'll get there jbe ... Sterling falling is adding yet another +ve driver to the investment rationale here.
Am sure plenty are sat waiting to see if it will breach 20p this time but, I still see none of the 20p stock offered in size in the auction so, don't think it will take anything like the previous buying volume to make it this time

GBPUSD now 1.23 !! USDAZN at 1.63

Earnings here are in USD & thick slice of costs are in AZN.

GBPUSD has fallen by 16% YTD & gold has risen 17% YTD

That hedge is looking better and better by the day. POG has collapsed , manipulated or not. Didnt think we would see 1250 quite so soon.

You can only buy little bits at a time, they flat refuse to sell you anything over 50,000. It took me a while to get 100,000.

Theres been a few big buys but could just be someone with deep pockets who has discovered AAZ. I don't think it infers news is on the way.
