Spot Gold Weekly chart shows a very clear breakout now from a 6-year falling wedge.

The prior trend (pre-2011) was a strong uptrend and so we should interpret the pattern as both a reversal pattern (from the wedge) and also a continuation pattern of the prior trend.

The initial price target is approximately the value of the width at the top of the pattern, circa from 1300 --> 1900 = 600 points.

Add this figure to the value at which the breakout occurred & we have the initial price target: 1250 + 600 = 1850

Will be interesting to see how long it takes to get there this time around. in 2011 it only took 34 weeks

I don't think long to wait now Celeritas.
AAZ's plans were conservatively based on $1,200 Gold & $6,000 Copper. Both have now broken out & Silver not far behind them in that regard either.
Plenty more are going to buy into Gold now

Fund managers will be looking for baskets of gold mining stocks. I don't think many believed it would hold above 1200 never mind hang around 1300. I expect pm stocks to have a very good week.
As for AAZ, well that's another case entirely, should be way over 100p already.

If the AAZ price moves up Tuesday, you will doubtless then ascribe this largely to the POG [given it stays up or makes a few more $].
I won't; I'm expecting the rise on Friday to be followed on by more regardless of the POG this week coming, Tuesday onwards.
Seems to me the brokers are still holding a fair quantity [largely what they bought for 17.7p when the directors dumped their option sales] and drip feeding them into a growing demand, driven mainly by growing realisation AAZ is exceptionally cheap for comfortably profitable producer with non prohibitive risk and perception will likely expand reserves+production substantially 2018,19,20.... .
Could be a few fringe PI buyers will bite for AAZ on a even a modest POG breakout, as you say; gobble up small offerings from the mm and boost the rise significantly.
Also, doubt AAZ's copper production + potential are well known / priced in.

1307 was the c&h target on the hourly chart. Now let's consolidate above 1300 please.The weekly Gold chart could not be more positive

1300 has been a barrier so far, so to move through it and stay there is psychologically great news and I believe may well be a catalyst for the price to finally move here. We shall see soon enough !.. if it holds !

The way the POG has ripped through spot $1306/oz, looks like some kind of breakout to me Jeanesy.
If it is, the technos here, notably Mattjos and El Dud can have a good crow!

Though obviously good news for AAZ, don't expect this POG move to move the price much if at all; the margins are so fat even at $1,200/oz.
Copper price is on fire btw. :0)

Yeah basem I'd say you should be buying more.
Anyone should.
It's going to prove to be a very profitable half for AAZ as I've been saying for a while.
It's only good news from this point on.

Then if these metal prices hold it's even more so.
This company is so mind bogglingly cheap it defies belief.
It isn't going to last for long.

Edit: as jeanesy pointed out though, the problem is going to be supply of shares. There is a seller somewhere but he's been only drip feeding recently realising he was being taken for a mug. Next big supply problably will only come with new recent highs though. i.e. over 32p as some stale bulls will exit

POG breached 1300 ! Will it stay above this time ? With Mattjos' news on wed I wonder how many will try and buy tomorrow? It looks like the MM's dont have any to sell, so they will be hoping for some sales to supply demand if any buying happens. I wonder if they read the BB'S ?

Basem1 ... wait until the 30th or get digging on the internet.Nothing to do with SCSW or similar.I don't believe the broker will know anything about it either. Good thing is, I will post it here on the 30th and it will be a very, very quiet week on the markets. Last holiday week before Xmas so, most folk will be away. We can therefore get ahead of the market before they return the week after.

Let's hope so jbravo2. I wonder what mattjos has got up his sleeve? Or will the company reveal it be fore he gets chance ? Production figures will be out there but I thought they were now combined with azergold, that is my guess, but happy to wait for all to be revealed next week !

Wondered where the supply for the late buy shares had come from.
Seller has done well to try to minimise being taken for a mug recently ( he switched to much smaller amounts) but those pesky MMs happy to feed the buyer when he does show

absolutely ridiculous .. 100 shares is all that they will offer for sale. Bloke at Cantor has gone home early or is deliberately shut off supply & trying to keep this pegged back for the closing auction to pick up some stock
