I’m looking forward to the Q1 production report, should be a big improvement with copper mined, AAL will gain ground in the coming months I think going back into the 30’s is going to be sooner rather than later, I’ve got 2 limits set 1 to buy more @ 25.82 and 1 to sell @ 32.45

.....heavily-weighted mining stocks fell after data showed that China’s industrial profits slumped 22.9% in the first two months of the year as the effects of Covid curbs continued to take their toll. Rio Tinto, Anglo American and Antofagasta were all down.

Too many red flags in the markets with numerous uncertainties (Russia/Ukraine, China/Taiwan and banking turmoil in particular). Then uncertainty in the FED statements regarding posing for interest rates. Stagflation could be on the cards. If they cannot overcome inflation, bankruptcies will trigger a recession (under still higher interest rates to reduce higher inflation). This is not the best recipe for any economy. Thus why turbulent and volatile markets to continue in 2023.

Recession fears / risk off = a bad combination for miners VAS.

Who knows short term what will happen but long term you will be ok here. Pick the divi up, average down when you can and wait as the world needs what all miners pull from the ground.

Good luck all 👍🏻

AAL is the most diversified of miners as it is also involved in diamonds/PM's. Following the banking debacle, I think the mining sector will benefit a lot as there will be a big sector rotation from banking, retail, home builders/construction to heavy material/mining stocks with decent dividends to reduce risk.
It's also the only miner with a turnover greater than its market cap. All the others (BHP, RIO, ANTO) have a market cap far higher than their turnover. To me it looks cheap.

Good news from BOA on AAL

We all need to see this banking crisis sort itself out and then some sort of confidence in buying at these levels will return quickly I think.

Yes there are recession fears but this is undervalued and the only question is will it get dragged down further by external forces?

I am deep underwater here too knocker at 3220 avg excluding today's divi.

I got some at just under 2700 yesterday only to see it tank further so I am sitting on my hands for now. I am happy long term as I will clean up my average when the markets settle and pick up the divi's along the way but it's been a bad play for me since early Feb that's for sure!!

Good luck all 👍🏻

My recent top up at 2733 is now looking pretty expensive, and my first purchase at 3510 a real shocker, though it seemed a decent price at the time .... Deep in the red on this holding, even on a total return basis. You never know how low miners can go. Most of my holding in RIO was bought at £19. A reminder to keep some powder dry.

Todays fall in pence is more than the divi in US cents.

Sub 2500 now is a new year low and the divi is 6.4%. Must attract buyers soon right??

So Dow made it to 20% up from September lows, has retraced 6%. FTSE made it to 17% up from September, now retraced 9%.

Which one has the huge company valuations & little yield again?

Not even a Brit bank in trouble. Smh.
