LME Zinc stockpiles continue to fall at over 5000 tons per day. Didn't let up for the Chinese New Year holiday. I wonder where it is going. Still got 817000 tones on the books, but rate of decline seems to be gathering pace.

Bogit,
Many thanks for that link,on it now,
seems I never got that far in Chemistry at grammar school,in studying more than playing the guitar..oh well,I can learn now can't I,

I always say at 11-21 you are at a funny age,but 21 onwards you have sown your wild seeds and can knuckle down to earn money or go without...so it was to earn money I turned...ha,haa...gla

Hi abergele, happy to help. If you wanted to read more, I recommend the International Zinc Association web site. The link below concerns uses. Cheers etc.

Hey ,many thanks to you 4 guys for revitalising my education,
Yes of course ,galvanising, and forgot the old Tungsten bulbs situation,
so nice of you all to reply.....this site is educational,

Not a good start today it seems, yes Bodgit,,patience,I am sure come June when sunny and warm in Canada ,we may regret not finding some spare,or selling something that looked toppy, and buying here to see it at 10p....who knows eh.

Also, galvanized steel for constructional steelwork use and things like crash barriers on roads. It would be good to see AYM benefit and the shares rise - a lot! Now over 60% underwater on these. Patience. Good luck all.

No zinc in old light bulbs as far as I know (filament is tungsten). Galvanised steel (e.g. in cars, white goods) and brass (e.g. in plumbing and decorative). Some new battery technologies feature zinc, and one that could have an impact on demand is large scale storage being tested this year - hxxp://www.eosenergystorage.com/
- also it may feature in future rechargeables -
hxxp://www.imprintenergy.com/
One growth area for batteries is electric cars, but renewable energy generation (wind, solar, tidal) all come and go, and so benefit from storage to smooth out the power. So the demand side for zinc has the potential to vary quite a bit. Without that it is predicted to grow gently due to urbanisation.

I hope EOS have a successful trial, though I don't think they will be happy if faced with rising zinc costs.

abergele automotive mfg picking up in US as diesel says "rust preventing of steel"
increase in car output means more zinc needed there is a big correlation to auto industry as well as other industries

interesting post from James duade over on stockhouse this evg he believes lim does have some value

The main use of zinc is for rust preventing of steel, followed by use in alloys such as brass, and also in the manufacture of tyres and in health applications.
However, will we ever see production from Anglesey, unlikely from this present company, if it was going to happen there would have been plenty of opportunities to have progressed the project, seems like it is just a vehicle for the management to earn a crust for very little activity, shameful.

Good evening Noccer,
tell me as I am not savvy, but was zinc used in thr old light bulbs for the filaments?
Is that was so hence the lesser useage of the said material these days,is AYM dependant on any ,or much sales of zinc...or perhaps Laser can help....tia

Was looking at LME zinc warehouse stocks. Fell by 440,000 tons over the last year, 860,000 tons remaining. Looks to have accelerated over the last month or two. I suppose there are many possible causes, but heading in the right direction for price support IMHO.

i like to be bullish here & remain so. All the sellers have gone mm can offer a spread of 14% on l2 but thats not the true picture buys continue at 3.9p & Sells @ 3.8p ignore the red its only generated by computer.

Repeat all the sellers are long gone no sellers in quantity eventually the
the next trend will be UP thats after some trading in the 3-5p area

8,081 @ 3.94

the isdx trades are above

the lse trades are all buys i reckon well certainly 72k of the volume is, but its the 2x40k at 3.8 on lse i not sure about, if they are sells the 75k at 3.6 on isdx was a sell... the rest are buys

if you add the 2x 40k's on lse this could be that approx 155k has been sold down today which is why we are down

you can sell around 400k @3.6p just tried a dummy on line so it will absorb a lot more sells at the 3.6p price

the l2 quote is only an indication its completely out of line with what prices are avail to buy & sell

whats going on with AYM today?, are there some isdx trades i'm not seeing as the bids 3.5 yet ask is 4p but real spread is 3.8 bid and 3.9 ask. I know contracts usually expire and are renewed around 20 to 24 but it seems totally bizarre
