What you also need to consider is that the Uis mine has been mothballed for decades and the area has been hit hard financially. Getting the tin mine up and running has been a major boost. Producing lithium is going to increase employment and prosperity in the area even more. Success will also bring in other companies knowing Namibia is friendly to outside investment when done properly.

They do say lab scale, so this needs running through a pilot plant with different conditions to the petalite. Then they will know what they can really achieve once optimisation starts on a larger scale.
I can see a few months worth of pilot plant work allied with delineation of the spodumene resource. This is probably why there are sellers, it's not something we might even see in Q1 2024. It's not a hot sector any more.
Meanwhile the current plant will churn out ceramic grade bringing in the money.
It looks like we might get a spodumene plant separate from everything else. That's where the JV money will go once we prove up the resource and process. |
