Posted at 16/3/2010 19:47 by jeffian Well that's a turnup for the book - share price closed above the bid price! That usually suggests the possibility of a counterbid. Surprised there has been no comment. Any CUK holders out there or have you taken the money and run? |
Posted at 18/1/2010 07:50 by psolomons Sorry you find it misleading grahamburn but it seems pretty clear to me. If you hold the shares on wednesday you get the dividend. Yes, it is paid at a later date but thats what all dividend paying companies do. |
Posted at 17/1/2010 21:27 by grahamburn Slightly misleading, psolomons. According to ADVFN Financials page it goes ex-dividend this week (20 Jan), but it is isn't paid till 17 February. |

Posted at 03/1/2010 05:07 by psolomons I see Care Uk has been tipped as one of the 10 shares for this year in the Sunday Telegraph. Their deputy city editor Laurie Holmes says he expects an improved bid from a private equity firm and speculates that a rival offer may be forthcoming. He also quotes the recent Panmure note in which they call Care UK a 'highly cash generative business with an unrivalled position across the UK health care sector'.Bit of a 'no-brainer' to tip CUK since we know the interest from bridgepoint. Bit of lazy journalism I reckon but good to see in this case i suppose. |
Posted at 30/12/2009 11:00 by psolomons I wonder if this will be sorted out before the dividend is paid on the 20th of Jan. I wouldn't have thought bridgepoint want care uk to pay millions of cash to investors just before any take over. Surely you secure the take over and save the dividend money. Happy new year if there is anyone else out there. I suppose its tempting to take profit now as the run has been stellar and the downside could be painful. For what its worth i'm hanging on. Think i'll keep reading the FT, their private equity reporter seems to know what's going on !! |
Posted at 15/12/2009 16:05 by psolomons It appears i'm talking to myself again ! however very interesting movement over the last couple of days. Contrary to my thoughts recently there appears to be something afoot. Don't forget CUK was a less impressive company mid 2007 when the price was over 800p. There is definitely value here and I wouldn't be surprised if more than one company was showing an interest. |
Posted at 14/12/2009 20:18 by psolomons Interesting speculation in the FT (see below) a couple of weeks ago that a US company was also looking at CUK. Can't say i'm surprised the more I look at the company the more attractive it looks. Bit like beer and women I suppose !! --------- NOV 18th Care UK rose 2.2 per cent to 366½p on talk that it might have attracted a bid from a private equity group. Care UK received and rebuffed an offer from Bridgepoint Capital in September, but the company remains in an offer period. The talk in the market was of interest from a US fund. |
Posted at 11/12/2009 08:44 by shroder It wasn't favourite to happen anyway, I think the board made that clear. The growth here is still very good in a sought after sector, CUK may still attract interest from other parties now that the flag has been raised. |
