I thought C-1 was all ready to go BG and not dependant on the farm-out? It's a commitment from the old licence. It was meant to be last summer. Then Christmas. So I was thinking early next year. Everything booked as they state

"Chikumbi-1, which will be drilled to a total true vertical depth of 3,485m, will fulfil one of two remaining exploration commitments"

So perhaps then skin we (EU) could trade fairly with our African brothers, instead of putting tariff barriers up, never allowing them to trade fairly and then sanctimoniously throwing them a few charity bones?
Just suggesting like....

how long for the spud though Gerry 3-5 months and without the farm-out no spud, and with-out Mtwara licence extension no farm-out. so I think licence extension/farm-out is catalyst

30k on the spud, Sandy. Why not. It should walk up if momentum isn't strangled by silence. You'd think?

then maybe it comes down to the question of nature vs nurture ? so if European's carry the same gene pool, then to account for all our varied and different cultural characteristics which is displayed through-out Europe it must come down then heavily on that specific nurture we are exposed to and experience and that we can all say, that we are the product of our environment, be it scotland england wales northern ireland southern ireland france germany spain Italy etc.

Interesting that you mention Ukraine BG. Our ancestors!
The 'ancient Britons' (the builders of Stonehenge) died out (climate change or disease?) to be replaced about 2400BC by the Beaker people originally from Ukraine and central Europe.
The celts, also from Turkey and central/east Europe came much later (c.600BC) followed by the Romans.
We're European - no doubt about it.

I've started to notice prices going up. Any excuse! Just wait for a No-Deal. We should introduce public extortion stocks. As a deterent. In the planning. Cheap Spanish tomatoes, if available.

Get over it. It's fact, much like the country voted to leave the EU. No one's a Fundamentalist because of these facts. If people want to see themselves as European, then fine, but it's not true in essence. I would say move to France or somewhere if you want to still be in the EU and European, rather than forcing ideas and something on people who don't like it or don't want it. I'm sure you would then be somewhere where you can feel a lot happier in yourself.

Love that about Fundamentalists. They are always happy to tell others what to think and how they feel.I am European. And British. I am ashamed of my country. And this bulletin board is a good example of the tub-thumping stupidity of Leavers in general.

warbaby - I'm not sure where this idea of being European came from. British born people are not European. Never have been and never will be.

Thanks for the link whoppy though I fear it might be the cue for yet more hysterics from the "Proud to be European and ashamed to be British" brigade.

Time will tell Bun/TipTop, but even if you're prediction is realised, remember that the GDP of Tanzania is less than that of Leeds/Bradford.
Higher percentage growth is (of course) much easier to achieve in a developing country starting from a low position.

Over the next 5-10-20 years you'll see MUCH higher percentage growth in Tanzania compared to any already developed country. Not even close.

Lol.. Tanzania a very good bet. Heard it all now.

For a bigger picture I would read Mr Magufuli goes to town. Not for the kiddies mind. Bun.

Gerry - did you know that Mr Perfect lives in TipTop cottage? Whenever I read that Mr Men book to my daughter I always wonder if I am, sorry I mean if he is, making a smug remark about being perfect.

As far as being a good bet I mean honestly what the fudge do I know? It just seems that the lower it goes the lower the risk is and the higher the upside. 40 million for 50% values the remaining 25% at 20 million (simple maths divide 40 by 2). So 60 million + 5 pence for KN-1 and a Bounty bar for the rest of the unexplored, expired licenses. That 25% will be worth a lot more than 20 million if the plan to get to production succeeds.

Much bigger picture I'd recommend reading the work of Hans Rosling. Over a medium to long term horizon Asia and Africa is where we're going to see wealth growth. Europe will get wealthier but at a slower pace. That's demographics, which can be reliably predicted, not economics, which can't. So I think having exposure to Africa is important.... but yeah the 6 million tax charge is a big negative and Tanzania simply isn't as stable as your typical European country.
