It became a sell when Jeremy Eng talked about using temporary gas processing plants and didn't do any EWTs.There is still very very material technical doubt around this project IMHO.

Indeed death by a thousand cuts over the years. Getting the licence to frack. Then deciding they don't want fracking. Was costly. The beautiful people are very proud of their beautiful Country.

AST became a sell when Hendo's started selling. Development has been blocked at every stage, they are producing a couple of mmscfd and have no money for the development even if the permit is issued, meanwhile the Russians provide Slovenia with all the gas they need.

Why the sudden interest in Slovenia?
I remember Ljubljana well - a pleasant and interesting city.
Slovenia isn't Africa!

at least the british government are now helping Ascent..should be interesting monday

Press release
British Embassy Ljubljana statement on Ascent Resources
The British Embassy in Ljubljana is working to support Ascent Resources as a British investor in Slovenia. Shareholders should contact Ascent directly if desired.

The British Embassy in Ljubljana is working with the British Slovene Chamber of Commerce to support Ascent Resources as a British investor in Slovenia. Decisions on permits are rightly a matter for the Slovene Government. The Embassy will continue to make the point that foreign investors need to be given predictable timescales for decisions on these issues by Slovene authorities. Ambassador to Slovenia Sophie Honey raised this recently with Slovene Ministers, and will continue to press this case with local authorities.

We regret that the Embassy cannot engage individually with shareholders, who should contact Ascent directly if desired. However we remain in close contact with Ascent and the British Slovene Chamber of Commerce on this matter.

"The potential future gas production from Petišovci could create significant energy independence for Slovenia which currently imports 99.9% of its gas production, (much of it sourced from Russia.)"

I think there in lies the problem, "oh those Russians"

Cheerful news from Slovenia, Gerry!

Hopefully, as you suggest, AEX's position in TZ is slightly better! TZ gas demand is rising, and they are actively promoting it. There are limited sources of new gas supply in a 2 year or so timetable. They've had issues with both the others, to some extent now resolved, but they will need Ruvuma gas too. Playing hard to get over the licence extension and the outstanding payments is one thing, throwing the baby out with the bath water would be excessively foolish, and I don't see it happening. (That doesn't mean I have any expectations for the end of the month - I decided a long time ago, not just in relation to AEX, that worrying about the timing, and supposed deadlines, for these sorts of issues in places like TZ is a waste of energy, they happen when they happen!)

Sultans. Maybe that's why 60:40 sounds about right. Not saying they are at the Ascent level of goodbye RNS just yet.

"The inability of investors in Slovenia to rely on bureaucratic processes or the rule of law in the country makes any investment in Slovenia by foreign companies extremely high risk."

It gets worse.

yes, but its not so much about Aminex now.

Sultan Al-Ghaithi, CEO of ARA Petroleum LLC said:

"Today's announcement emphasises our firm belief in the Aminex portfolio and in Tanzania, where the Zubair Corporation group of companies has existing business interests and enjoys strong relationships and an excellent reputation. We look forward to continuing to work with Aminex and the Tanzanian government to help bring forward development of this nationally important asset."

DYOR eh Malik? Not sure how you know their relationship with Magufuli. He doesn't like foreigners trying to make themselves rich in his Country. His actions and words. Perhaps AEX is different and he will personally give back the stolen revenue. Since they have such a good links...lol. Agree with 60:40 for the end of the month mind. Sounds about rightish. For some reason.

There will be no farm-out without licence renewal.
Will that happen? I'm increasingly doubtful.

Clearly the first is true, Skin, but while I won't be surprised if there are more delays and the expected timescale is not met, I will be very surprised if the renewal doesn't happen. There may well be a cost to the extension, but I see no reason why it should not happen - particularly now there is a funded timetable to production, which matches likely demand increases.

"No licence no binding agreement" absolutely

so you're 50/50 is based on whether the ministry will grant the extension or not, like I said PURA is supportive of the extension and their duties are

(PURA)
The major roles and functions of the Authority include:

a (Advising the Minister responsible for Petroleum affairs) on-

i. promotion and bidding process for the award of Production Sharing Agreements or other contractual arrangement;

ii. negotiation of production sharing agreements and other contractual arrangements; and

iii. granting, renewing, suspending and cancelling of petroleum exploration license, development license and production permit;

as I see it, the Minister are there just to act out Policy, 50/50 I don't think so, what do you think he'll do, toss a coin : )

I am increasingly confident, not least because of the gas demand curve and the Tanzania need for Ruvuma gas.

Tanzanian power generation currently ca. 1,500 MW, with ca.780 MW from Natural gas.

Government ambition for 5,000 MW in 2020.

Demand forecast by end 2021 predicted at ca.300mmcfd

Where is that coming from other than Ruvuma?

Greyingsurfer - so many dashed hopes, too many missed targets, too little achieved...
compounded now by a more cautious, and (rightly?) protectionist regime in Tanzania. Not that corruption is any reduced.
There will be no farm-out without licence renewal.
Will that happen? I'm increasingly doubtful.

Surely it's binding on the right to do the work in first place lol!!!???
Why don't people mention this!
No licence no binding agreement - of course all imho and dyor.
They would be mugs to be contractually bound to something they don't have legal entitlement to!!
Not saying this will happen - but if it doesn't happen soon - where's the money (for running things)!!

"Me I'm 50:50"

I'd put it somewhat higher than that Dunder, when you think the farm-out agreement they have signed with The Zubair Corporation was binding, plus the Mtwara extension is supported by both the TPDC and PURA, now just pending approval by ministry, and we know the urgency to develop Ntorya is growing by the month.

BG - yes but that's when the carry goes ahead - he said he didn't feel the carry will go ahead?
Me I'm 50:50 but (and to clarify) if it doesn't go ahead in November - I have no idea when it will finally do so (and will AEX 'mgt' know as well, lol) - hence my questioning of ability to continue as going concern?
Wasn't saying it was a definite no-go, just I'd start questioning it and I'm sure billy market definitely will do!
All imho of course and as ever DYOR!!!!
