Just because you don't understand it, doesn't make it wrong, it just demonstrates your preference for fantasy over reality. A trait shared by Amerisur investors far and wide.

My last post on climate change, but these predictions aren't new. Look at the prediction in 1970 First Earth Day....
hxxp://www.aei.org/publication/18-spectacularly-wrong-predictions-made-around-the-time-of-first-earth-day-in-1970-expect-more-this-year/

Then look at Al Gore's Inconvenient Truth predictions and how many have proven wrong?

As for using NASA, then you should know they were at the centre of a climate change scandal from 'amending' data.

When base data is fiddled to start with, you can't trust a thing, and base data has consistently been fixed, charts have had data truncated to give the impression some want, and data has even been withheld.

Just recently a report on sea levels came out in an apocalyptic news headline....the only problem was the maths, and when another scientist pointed out mathematically errors in the report, those errors were accepted, but no headlines reporting how it was proven to be incorrect!

Those on hear boasting about having a degree in this or that, connected with climate change are the problem not the solution, the same as all the government funded organisations on 'climate change', or the millions of 'scientists' in various NGO's who are grant funded for climate change.

To expect them to not be conflicted is like expecting turkeys to vote for Christmas. Of course they will find what their organisations are funded to find, as without that they would not have lucrative jobs.

Climate has changed from the beginning of time and always will. In the UK there is evidence in Scotland of sub tropical foliage and the beasts associated with that climate. Likewise there are fossil remains showing massive cooling periods, and in the Thames not so many centuries ago, there was ice skating regularly, as the climate had cooled, only to change again.

The problem is that the hysteria has reached such a fever pitch that media claims its a scientific fact, when multitudes of scientists do not agree, but where then the typical reaction is to call them names like Climate deniers putting then in the same category as holocaust deniers, to vilify them and their work.

A recent independent report on CO2 from Sweden suggested increased CO2 was beneficial to the planet in helping to feed the world, but again lost with the media.

Funny thing too that in the Ordovician period 450 million years ago, Co2 levels were approximately 800 per cent more than they are now...where as you may know the Ordovician period was also known as the ICE AGE!

Science suffers when science is usurped for politics, and history is littered with scientists castigated for going against the 'crowd think' yet who were proven absolutely correct!

For example these pseudo scientist with a real conflict in interest as they are PAID to make climate change appear really man made, ignore anything that may suggest otherwise.

Sea levels: Yet ask a climate 'scientist' why there are so many sink holes appearing in the world? Or ask them about the effect of taking resources out of the earth, i.e. oil and other natural resources, where to use oil as a good example. With around 97,000,000bbls of oil produced every day, with a barrel of oil being 60 gallons, that means there are 5,820,000,000gallons replaced primarily with water every day.

Throughout the world a big problem is the LOSS of water with rivers drying up, hydropower which ironically was considered by the predecessors of todays climate scientists to be the greenest solution, but which now appears to be the opposite.

Climate changes, no one doubts that. History demonstrates it over MILLIONS OF YEARS. heating and cooling.

"Greenland ice cores show that the temperature in the region increased by about 7C in the space of 2 or 3 years. This was only discovered in the 1980s and astonished researchers at the time."

Yes but from what temperature? parts of greenland are North Pole and the continents greatly effected by Polar winds.
A 7 degree drop from -50 to -43 wouldn't be so significant.
Now if you had evidence of a two year 7 degree rise at the equator that would be significant imo.

it is not just about temperature. it is also about what spectre we are getting from the universe. lots of EM storms and ultraviolet C type (harmful) .... makes difference to the past.
hence biology reacts badly first and then adopts as it develops resistance.

hence more earthquakes lately, vulkanos erupting, magnetic pole shift increase ...
due to the man made temperature ? - lol

as I own forests I can tell that CO2 is not harmful. Trees grow 3 times faster on the margin! as CO2 is food. The problem is only that one sort of trees dies and new ones emerge. we can observe dead trees. but most do not see new other trees growing as they are small and different

I guess I must be one of the few here with a degree in climate science. In terms of how climate change will affect us, it is generally forgotten that the ocean holds far more sway than the atmosphere. The current ocean circulation pattern is locked in, similar to a chemical system holding on to equilibrium. You need a lot of heat, or pressure, or a catalyst, to force a chemical system to break equilibrium and change to a new form, after which, changing it back is an unlikely proposition.

People tend to talk about gradual increases in CO2 or temperatures edging up to 2C or whatever, but the swinger will be when the ocean circulation patterns flip due to increasing heat input to the system. When it goes, it will be very fast. At the end of the last ice age, Greenland ice cores show that the temperature in the region increased by about 7C in the space of 2 or 3 years. This was only discovered in the 1980s and astonished researchers at the time.

In the UK, an ocean circulation pattern change will ironically make us colder for a while, as we would lose the jet stream. In this scenario, models show the UK getting colder than average until about 2070 when we get overtaken by the general heating going on.

And yes, the ocean circulation patterns have flipped many times in the past without human intervention. Ice ages are a relatively new phenomenon geologically, and not really understood. Personally I think the real challenge of climate change is to learn terraforming. We could migrate away from climate variations in previous millennia, but now we can't afford to go running away from higher sea levels, or rearrange crops worldwide, with so many humans on the planet...

Anyway, let's hope for some decent drill results this year... it will be energy companies that help solve these problems, as the recent refusal to dump BP and Shell by the Norwegian national fund showed us this week.

This is fascinating, and i don't usually engage in this kind of discussion, but I want to know.

Sogesit, and quidnunc do you agree that climate appears to be warming? But you don't think the evidence is there to call it man made?

Lucy, Sogoesit,Without data or expertise to back it, it's just an opinion, no one of which outweighs another and these sum to zero as any foray into twitter will reveal. With data, AGW as a theory is patchy at best and more resembles a patchwork or piece of tartan that a set of testable hypothesis. Evidence put forwards tends to be lacking in both precision and scale and often picked out of discipline and context by popularising scientists from other fields.Hilarious errors thus far have included rising sea levels linked to Artic ice melt and rising CO2 causing plant and animal death by suffocation. There are of course many moreIn sum, there is a lot more heat than light and I remain unconvinced that the human contribution can be distinguished from the natural processQ

With respect, sometimes, but rarely, you talk cobblers. To deny the existence of man made climate change puts you in the flat earth society and the head of Donald Trump....Or maybe its Martians what done it.

If you're not a sceptic then you're not actually a scientist. It is inherent in the title that the status quo and all theories should be challenged and scrutinised as it is only in this process that knowledge is advanced. Galileo and Newton and Einstein upended current thinking and triggered whole eras where previous world views crumbled and were replaced and even the new views replaced them are being challenged and replaced. This is as it should be, there are few if any truths etched upon the fabric of the universe that are good for all space and time. Climate change has been happening since the first dawn of the first day. What drives it is largely unknown in any detail. The idea that it's all man made recently is breathtakingly arrogant and ignorant. Those scientists who uncritically signed up for this so-called consensus bring shame upon the whole profession Q
