All aspects of drilling give information and they used Triple-Combo wireline logging suite from Schlumberger giving fantastic amounts of information. Too much emphasis on pressure, as too much pressure can be just as damaging as too little. Wellhead pressure at Mariposa was a creditable 348PSI unaided.

they usually monitor downhole pressures on drilling anyway. PressureWave® is offered by Weatherford but expect Schlumberger use their own system.

Various companies offer such services.

Question to those more technically in the know on the BB; would the mud mix properties required on hitting the reservoir have provided some indication of pressure..?

one more thing - additional 3D surface is acquired so, that all 3D will be circular in the end (more or less) and not prolonged - just as the fluid would spread around in the sand nature not caring about humans. bingo! could be huge

Well done fella. Great research. I like this type of research as it helps to construct a general assessment, good or bad, about current state of play. Almost akin to insider information, which of course it isn't but you get my drift ie actual, real news signifying positive developments but not relayed officially through a RNS

I'm no O & G expert either and therefore tend to rely on the informed insights of others which can have its drawbacks...but I can see it's all pointing in the right direction and that is welcome

thanks again

they want additional 300 km2 of 3D data after the recent success!
as soon as possible - they drilled and in a week the tender for additional 3D is out
they have two more drills planned with big diameters and testing equipment ordered plus additional drill!

what is this telling me?
very very good put all together.

I looked up casings tables - testing equipment is in the end (largest diameter) segment - how much it can flow depends on API and pressure

all looking very good

I have my own thoughts but am not from the industry - can one make comments if he simply knows?

A bit too optimistic on the CPO-5. They do not know at all if the LS3 unit for Mariposa-1 or Indico-1 are within the same reserve. They do know they have hit the LS3 but that is not the same as saying they are connected.

Hope they are but suggestion from posts are that it is a given, and it isn't....not yet anyway.

Does anybody have Rex's address? I have a feeling his shenanigans may have created an incredible, once in a lifetime opportunity to make a few quid and would like to send him a Christmas card.

Well, we know that monster [E-2029] derrick will be moved onto Sol-1 post short term testing; which is another punchy choice. It'll be the cherry on the cake should it also come-in, but they seem confident this LS3 'unit' extends all the way down to Sol-1. And there's plenty more besides.

He is under obligation because not reported disposals, even those crossing notifiable thresholds, to do that he relying on rules allowing single transaction not to report crossing thresholds until transaction settled. If he's reliant on that then he has to notify after transaction is settled.

Thanks all - so if below 3% Harbour's under no legal obligation to declare any change in his shareholding...I though that was as much but I suspect we can safely assume the majority of his selling is complete....personally, he can keep off-loading though I see little point if the company's on the mend - why would he continue to sell his interest in a company that is in turnaround mode unless he's distressed?

kaos3 - Yes, I like that insight. The capacity of the equipment they are using should reveal the size of the discovery being worked on...top stuff...

would be interesting to know the technicals of the new future CPO 5 drilling and compare it to the old ones. if it is as good as we think the tendered equipment would reflect that - there is a hint. bigger diameters, stronger motors, larger tubes etc.

where can we see tendering - link? tia

As far as I'm concerned he's got obligation to report, not because his holding is below 3%, but on sale when its concluded, as if he didn't report sales previously it can only be by claiming it was a single transaction yet to be finished.

As has been posted regularly, even below 3% company and others can find out on daily basis who beneficial holders are, or how many they have sold or have left, whether offshore or not.

The Companies Act also gives companies that right whether ownership looks obscure, whether its in BVI, Panama or UK.

He has no longer got any obligation to report his holding, so all conjecture.

Suspect he is now fully out.

Does anyone know how many shares Rex Harbour has left to sell or his intentions regarding his stake (2.35% remaining?)?

Harbour's selling has been a godsend to those looking to take a lower priced stake in Amerisur and I was musing if he might start selling at higher prices or retain his holding now the fortunes of the company have been transformed in recent months?

The price action on Friday was so very bullish. We had a mini-capitulation with a mini rally into the close. That's a perfect intra-day reversal which should fill the heart with optimism

Sentiment's changed regarding Amerisur. You can see it in the chart and you can see it in the fundamentals. The oil price is the unknown factor, obviously

I believe the company fundamentals are now so strong that price weakness will be bought into as opposed to past behaviour in which price weakness encourage even further selling. I like that change in market behaviour a lot. It provides confidence

Just musing

We think a very active period for Amerisur Resources (AMER:AIM) could be the catalyst for the market to take another look at the stock.

A recently secured $93m farm-out agreement with US firm Occidental Petroleum (23 Nov) and news of a potentially significant new oil discovery (10 Dec) has breathed some life into the share price. A forward price-to-earnings ratio of 10 times suggests the shares remain inexpensive and so we still believe the share price has much further to rise.

We expect momentum to be maintained in the coming months as the Occidental deal helps accelerate activity across the company’s acreage in Colombia.

The political instability is one of the risks which must be weighed when assessing the stock, and this, plus some delays in fully tapping the potential of its Colombian assets, has been a factor in holding back the share price in the past.

However there are plenty of reasons to be positive. The company is underpinned by a strong and growing production base from its Platanillo field of around 5,500 barrels of oil equivalent per day. It has a low-cost export route through a pipeline into Ecuador. Amerisur can fund activity from robust internal cash flow and it is sitting on plenty of cash.

Stockbroker Arden forecasts it will have $49.3m cash at the end of 2018. This buffer also provides some insulation from short-term volatility in the oil price.

The recent successful result from the Indico-1 well, where Amerisur is partnered with Indian state oil firm ONGC, marks the start of a busy period of drilling activity with 12 more wells set to be drilled through to the end of 2019.

This has been augmented by the agreement with Occidental which will see Amerisur carried on a big seismic survey and five-well programme through to 2021.

The company’s chief executive John Wardle has plenty of in-country experience. He has been working in Colombia for the best part of two decades – initially for BP (BP.) and then Emerald Energy where he was responsible for the discovery of the Campo Rico and Vigia oil fields.

Emerald, which also had assets in Syria, was taken over by Chinese state firm Sinochem for £532m in October 2009.

And Wardle has backed his faith in Amerisur’s forthcoming drilling effort with cold hard cash, investing nearly £1m of his own money in company shares in the wake of the Occidental deal.

Thanks for your analysis, TS, that just about captures it and an absolute steal below 20p and stand by my 25p early NY target. But holding for a good deal more.

After Friday's strong reversal a gap-up open on Monday wouldn't surprise.
