oilandgas - "3. RODA upgrades and equipment maintenance in Ecuador which will be completed Aug17". Have they said that?

edit: yes, I see it now. "Shortly", as they like to say.

Whilst GC may or may not be a likeable person, and clearly failed the IOD charm school course on PR with Hoi polloi small shareholders; the day to day management and direction of the company falls to JW and lesser mortals down the ranks.
They are what will make or break Amer.
It is unlikely that GC is stupid enough to sabotage his own financial prospects just because he finds a few PI's opinions of his chairmanship irritating!

Sure GC is a bit of a Muppet but I don't think he sabotaged the pipeline in Ecuador which is at the root of our problems.

Unfortunately GC is too arrogant to admit any failings and certainly too arrogant to fall upon his sword. His team of sycophants won't stand up to him....maybe Rex has the right idea!

Until Clarke goes I don't expect most folk to take the company seriously or believe it is anything other than a vehicle for GC to take a fat annual salary for doing not much right. The share price is showing that that view is quite widespread. He seems to be the problem.

Compliments of Shell:
"Energy is vital to our daily lives. We need it to produce food, fuel transport, and power communication channels. By mid-century, our planet could be home to more than 9 billion people - up from 7 billion today - with three out of four of us living in cities [source: UN Habitat organisation]. Demand for energy could be 75% higher in 50 years from now.

At the same time, the world’s remaining supplies of oil and natural gas are increasingly difficult to find, unlock and produce. Factors include remote environments, complex geologies or even deeper water."

Peak oil supply means nothing if peak oil production cannot satiate peak oil supply anyway.

You will be wasting your time talking to a car manufacturer about fuel cells, that's in the hands of others

For the record BP predicted Peak Oil Demand is 2042

BP's own prediction shows an increase in oil requirements that include all existing oil including shale, which is bust, tar sands which is environmental suicide, and still predicts rising production that's very uncertain to be met until then.

Shell...Gave the worst off the cuff comment, with no figures to back it up.

Exxon the largest publicly traded oil company suggest global demand for oil is likely to rise by 20% from 2014 to 2040.

With decline rates and depletion and with a 20% rise in needs, its unlikely to be met as capex won't be found to replace depleted wells and declinining production.

In a 20 year timeframe Air Travel is predicted to double.

I don't think Shell executives were talking about peak production, as I said earlier peak use within the next decade.

For EVs not talking about lithium or batteries, talking about the next stage - if memory serves it's called Fuel Cell, I will make a couple of phone calls over the weekend. Again if memory serves they are talking about this technology being widespread within 4 years and usable within 2.

Hey up Trotts -- the guys at Val's wake last night send their regards to ewe. Was a fitting occasion in memory of our old friend.

Many thanks Quid for Val's book by Paul Durcan, which I read on the return train -- no wonder Val came out on occasions with total gobbled script which nobody understood ! :-)

Note on my return more unrest in the four AIM companies chaired by Clarke. All four
imho have much in common. He can FORGET any chance of a much hoped for knighthood.

Good to meet all you guys again -- GL !! -----------------------

ps -- we missed your presence Big Bas

Much in common = AMER / SMA / IRON / KEN
