27/7/2017 17:38 | Some v decent buying into the close | tsmith2
27/7/2017 16:11 | It certainly feels a little more stable, as if the bottom has been touched. Fingers crossed for some good news, or at least a more upbeat monthly update in a week (or three). Just been through the paper covering today's ONGC board meeting. No mention of Colombia or buying Amer out, sadly... (Although they have been splashing out for other projects, so it's always possible). | davwall
27/7/2017 15:48 | The past seven trading days show a bit of stability appearing with the Tenkan appearing to delineate the support position. It wouldn't take much for an upwards cross through the Kijun which would be positive but the road to recovery and blue skies is a long way from here still. Q. | quidnunc
27/7/2017 15:34 | Let's hope that GC can get his hands on a bigun too. | blackdown2
27/7/2017 15:11 | For what it's worth, the share price of Eco Atlantic Oil & Gas, with no current confirmed reserves and nil production, has today ticked up above Amer, which has quite a lot of reserves and some production. The uplift comes after Eco confirmed yesterday they and partner Tullow have commenced a 3D survey of 2500 sq klm offshore Guyana. However, the signs are that it could be a bigun. (And yes I do hold a few, but am not a ramper - honest). Crazy situation. | davwall
27/7/2017 13:38 | A very pleasant evening, so much so that I had to wait a couple of hours before daring to drive back this morning. The Bree had a great variety of beers on offer and as usual was rammed and buzzing. The Great Nep has changed, both the decor and the menu, but there was still Haku choyala to start and a glass of rum to finish. Some very interesting conversations about Chaco and Amer events going back over the years but no clear insights into the current moribund state of the share price There is a worry that the share price at this level makes a takeover a steal & with JW buying shares in Iron, one wonders whether his commitment and attention is wavering. The Oleoducto, its actual and average capacity came in for a lot of speculation. & of coure, Brian and his contribution was discussed and appreciated as well as being missed of course. 27/7/2017 13:24 | I'd guess (from conversations I've had with people far higher up the food chain than me) government knows exactly how close vehicle manufacturers are to the thing after batteries - couple of years was mentioned recently. Shell executives are apparently expecting peak oil demand within the next decade as EV begins to take over. | aceuk
27/7/2017 12:26 | Quite obviously this Electric Vehicle nonsense is a pure and utter con job. For a start there's nobody in Govt that seriously gives a toss about the environment and secondly the UK has no issue whatsoever with major pollution in the air in the first place. Furthermore, there's absolutely no infrastructure in place to support the charging of these vehicles and the logistics involved would appear to be unsupportable, especially when it comes to the power grid. All pie in the sky I'd say........ | ladeside
27/7/2017 11:57 | These countries announcing EV's by 2040. They must know oil production is going to be desperately short of what they need by then and the U.S. know as they had a report in 2010 that showed it and Saudi cable leaks Funny too that Nitrogen dioxide levels in UK have been dropping 5% per year since 2009 and expected to carry on as older vehicles are displaced by cleaner ones. Will use up millions of barrels of crude more to get these EV's built to no effect IVL The Swedish Environment Institute has, on behalf of the Swedish Transport Administration and the Swedish Energy Agency, investigated the climate impact of lithium-ion batteries from a life-cycle perspective. The batteries for electric cars were included in the study. The two authors—Lisbet The report shows that battery manufacturing leads to high emissions. For each kilowatt-hour of storage capacity in the battery, emissions of 150 to 200 kilograms of carbon dioxide are generated in the factory. The researchers have not studied the individual car brand batteries, just how they were produced or what electrical mix they used. But to understand the importance of battery size, two standard electric cars on the market, Nissan Leaf and Tesla Model S, have batteries of approximately 30 kWh and 100 kWh respectively. Oil will go to $150 as these reports on transition to EV show desperation in the face of futur oil shortage dressed up as glut | harrisun
