Bitcoin won't replace gold, but it offers better value at the moment.

Bitcoin is a minor problem. The real problem is JPMorgan the Fed bank manipulating the Gold/Silver markets. How long they can suppress the price of Gold/Silver I cannot say but it will end sometime?

Folk are, once again, throwing money at the Bitcoin bubble, to the detriment of Gold, it will not last.

Yes, gold is looking weaker every day at the moment as folk invest in the covid recovery.

I've got little doubt that the company is making good progress in production. The POG is what's worrying me a bit...

I don't disagree.

Sounds like a good plan.

They do, but it would seem perverse and foolish of the Assurbayevs to raise big money at today's fairly ridiculous sub-$50M valuation - especially when they are well underwater. Maybe raise a modest amount to accelerate things over the next 12 months - then raise bigger money next year at a 300p share price IMO!

I think the plans released 3 or 4 years ago required a lot more than just £10m.

We are almost a mid tier producer thanks to the recent cash and upgrades, but I think we hope to be tier 1 in just another couple of years or three.

I expect big things from ALTN in due course.

A cash raise isn't inevitable Ex - it may be simply a US listing initially, eg. of ADRs. The company is profitable and seems to be turning a corner - if there is a raising then perhaps just $10M say to speed things up? If the next quarterly results show similar progress (and the POG stays reasonably positive) then they might even be able to raise any funds at a premium to today's price - that would certainly be achievable IMO.

I hope it's soon, buy when it happens I expect we'll also get a major cash injection probably via dilution.

That won't be a bad thing tho, because it will all us to rapidly grow.

excellance - selling 10,000 shares to help us out? This a funny share? Anyone any idea when the US listing might happen? Or am I mistaken about that?

It's simple maths. If the free float is only (say) 10% - possibly less?? - then it will always be illiquid.I'm surprised the LSE haven't been looking into this as I always thought main market companies had to maintain at least 25% free float?

I sold 10,000 shares today and the mkt cap lost £3m

Unbelievable.

My broker doesn't allow online limit orders for this stock, and trades are limited to just 2500 at a time.

So much for a full listing allowing greater liquidity!

well i have taken a few of those.

Its a much stronger buy at this price off the back of those Q4 no's than it was a couple of weeks back in my view.

We just need a couple of Qtrs back to back and the illiquid nature of this should see a sharp re-rate......all being well !

Fair enough Ex. I was saying yesterday over on the DNL thread that we might see a bit of selling starting across the market due to the tax year end.It is pretty ridiculous how illiquid this share has always been.

I sold a few today. The recent rise meant my book was unbalanced, so I've taken just 10k off the table, and I can't believe how the share price moved in response. Very illiquid still.

Its end of tax year in 7 weeks so I needed to move stuff about a bit.

This company has had tens of millions of dollars spent on it over decades, and has only losses or small profits to show for it, so most invested here have been disappointed.

It takes a lot of good news to change sentiment.

Chaps... might be missing something here but GRL just got a permit to start production in a few months on mineable 89k ounces gold (JORC 600K) in Africa

So not even started production and very modest numbers to start with

Mkt Caps of both are within a stones throw !!

yes it shows the valuation gap here but also shows how mismanaged and poor ALTN have been.

let's hope it's all in the rear view mirror now

Gold is still drifting, but what do the charts tell us?

My opinion is that there has been a stampede for industrials and oil since bidens win, on the back of massive stimulus, but when that phase is over folk will come back to gold in anticipation of inflationary pressures.

Copper, nickel and oil have all doubled in price, and these are the resources needed for infrastructure and manufacturing, so these higher prices will feed thru to domestic inflation, and with it a squeeze on company profits and dividend yields.

That's when gold will go ballistic.
