On 4 December 2017, a new set of regulations came in-force which will allow Insurance-linked Securities (“ILSs”) to be written in the UK. Insurance companies now have an exciting new set of tools in the box to manage their capital and risks.
Insurance-linked securities allow insurance and reinsurance companies to transfer their risks to the capital markets, as an alternative to the traditional reinsurance market.

It does this by using insurance special purpose vehicles (“ISPVs”) to accept insurance risk and transforms them into capital market instruments, such as debt or equities. Investors can then invest in these instruments for an appropriate rate of return

From Alpha's Admiss Doc:

SPV advisory mandates The Company is also aware through its corporate finance contacts of groups of Institutional investors who want to obtain an exposure to the SLS asset class as a means of asset diversification but which may not have the financial ability or the desire to buy and manage entire portfolios. These corporate finance houses are proposing to establish SPVs (likely to be established in Ireland) which are funded by bond issues to these investors.

The Company’s role will be to provide specialist advisory services to the corporate finance house on the initial portfolio acquisition transaction, and additionally, where possible, to introduce possible investors to the corporate finance houses. For these services it will receive a bonus in addition to the retainer it anticipates to sign upon completion of the transaction when the SPV becomes a client. Additional work should then follow in the management of the portfolio and potential later disposals or further acquisitions.

who knows, maybe SL Invst's may complete their administration processes for any portfolio they get to manage in house rather than segregate it to 3 established co's in the US - they did also mention others news to follow in the JV rns

But one thing for sure, SL Invsts are very experienced in what they do, so thery must feel strongly that Alpha are brining something very interesting to the table for them to do a JV in this $10m open ended fund.

Perhaps Alpha will bring them into US/ Asian clients / funds, which SL has yet to break into..........

Well I'm certainly impressed, especially with the US figures, if alpha can grow to just 25% of that we have a viable investment here, The listing on the main market rather than aim proves thecompanies commitment and confidence that revenue will arrive quickly. The share price got slightly ahead of itself at 5p plus, hence the sell off but now the quick profit takers are out I'm confident of a recovery.

Agree, when you consider buyers we're paying 100% more last week.Mcap now only 3m, the fact we are on the main market and subject to more rigorous policy is reassuring when the mms take 60% off recent highs for no real reason.Only small sells today so let's see if someone is buying them later.
