It will rise when you least expect it... also think corporate activity cannot be ruled out. Unless you have a really compelling reason to sell I would stick with it and maybe review on the next results.

Apad, I think there is a lot more upside on ALNT so no need to go elsewhere :-)
This is a sound business with good technology and sector reputation. They can supply many electronics makers and not dependent on a particular phone launch. They are also still flexing their new found freedom as an independent company after the split
The breakout really does seem to be on now

betman,
Just looked at my notes on the Final (4/3/14):
Debt down at 96.5. Buy at 30Xp.
Now it's at 32Xp I'm more inclined towards ELM for income reinvestment.
FWIW.

Apad, totally agree, the only news around currently is the macro stuff on electronics demand. Not too long until Q1 IMS on the 19th May and of course there is the ex divi 5.71p on the 14th May. Steady accumulation at these levels feels to be the right strategy

I've been increasing steadily at these prices, but I don't see a breakout without news.

Finally broken through 320p. Consumer electronics companies seem to selling lots of units which must be good for ALNT. A Recovery to 340-360 looks feasible whilst market stays strong

The share price has had a stint trading between 310 -320p. With ongoing improvements in global growth and the first signs of recovery in tech stocks on the NASDAQ I am hopeful that ALNT can break through 320p resistence. Does anyone have any specific insights on ALNT markets that would back this up, as my views are a bit more "gut feel" that hard facts !!

APAD

I did drop a few, but only a very few, picked up at 3.16. Not worth the mention really, but I did reduce my average cost a little. I was just nervous, having seen the share price yoyo a couple of times.

Never been good at faith, red.
Have ALNT down to increase if it flirts with 300 again, but I doubt if the opportunity will come to pass.
Down 9.5% overall :-(

Agreed. VALUE share I think.
Prices to Net Operating Cash Flow and Price to Owner's Earning both less than PER of 14.
Out of favour sector perhaps?

Very volatile movement in the share price since the results were announced earlier in the week. Looking more closely at the numbers, 2013 cash flow was very strong which led to a very significant reduction in the group's gearing. Picture looks reasonably encouraging to me.

Copied from APAD's post, but worth reading again. For new SH's, Cookson spun into 2 companies, Vesuvius(which I sold much to early) and Alent that has been disappointing, and I still hold. Cooksons was over 100 years old when it split

"Clearly, management is confident – directors acquired £130,000 of the shares after the November update – and they'll be kept on their toes by Swedish hedge fund and activist shareholder Cevian, which bought another 5.3m shares, increasing its stake built up during the Cookson days to almost 22 per cent.
Visibility is limited, but forecasts suggest Alent will match rivals for growth, so a valuation nearer the peer average of about 14 seems sensible. Any clarity provided at results time could certainly encourage a re-rating. Buy."

A take over by a Chinese company(or German as in AZEM's resent case) would be the answer to all our dreams

A report last month on Bloomberg highlighted that in 2014 the European car industry to see its first year of expansion since 2007, with 2013 being the worst year since 1995.

Alent referred today that growth is anticipated in the automotive market this year so lets hope this provides some momentum
