21/1/2015 09:40 | RF Uncrossed trades are the report of tidying up end of day transactions. definition: Uncrossing Trade. This is used for the single uncrossing trade, detailing the total executed volume and uncrossing price as a result of a SETS auction Once the uncrossing price has been determined and which buy and sell orders get matched, all of the matched orders put together are reported as a single trade, of type “UT” (for “Uncrossing Trade”) and size equal to the total number of shares changing hands. In particular, note that eg. a 38,000 share “UT” trade does not necessarily mean that any particular person or organisation has bought that many shares, nor that any particular person or organisation has sold that many shares. It may be a combination of lots of smaller trades by people and organisations. It does not always follow that next day business is influenced by the previous day UT. red | redartbmud
21/1/2015 08:49 | 31k of shares at 16:30 (UT) bought at uncrossing time Would that make the share price jump at 8am not 20 mins later | robertfaulkner
21/1/2015 08:45 | Was an RNS yesterday saying Barclays like Alent in chemicals sector, I can't read it because I don't pay for ADVFN Can you read it? | robertfaulkner
21/1/2015 08:42 | Thanks Red, big jump at 8:20 today, can't see any RNS? Will have a look at trades | robertfaulkner
20/1/2015 18:18 | RF Looking at the trades most are Automated Trades, and there are some chunky sells. I assume that the latter are PI's 'taking some skin off the table', given the jump in the share price The overall volume is not out of the ordinary. it can be lumpy ranging from 60k or so up to 200/250k and occasionally 400k/day. I couldn't say if the big hareholders have a buy order in, but the last couple of RNS reveal institutions selling rather than buying. RNS 1 December 2014 Alent plc Appointment of Joint Corporate Broker Alent plc today announces the appointment of Liberum as joint corporate broker, to work alongside its existing broker UBS, with immediate effect. .................... Looking at another site (name will be deleted if posted) shows that they are working hard at promoting the company. They say buy with a target of 400p. The move from 320p to 375p, and holding, is a re-rating in my book, in these volatile markets. Is it possible that as raw material prices have gone down recently, based on oil/commodity price falls, and somebody thinks that the company might beat forecasts when it next reports. No-one has yet posted any more changes in holdings, but something will need to come out quite soon if an institution has crossed a threshold. I have struggled to make trades of 2k+ at quoted prices in the past, but trying 1.5k has worked ok. 150k trades out of 266.35m shares in issue, with a free float of 207.28m isn't huge by any means. I have tried to second guess who might be buying or selling in the past, but never managed to do so successfully. Hope that helps. red | redartbmud
20/1/2015 17:03 | Red, have a look at the trades(if you have time) Only 40k buys and 138k sells???????? And the price is up a bit. Does this mean the big shareholders have an order in. to buy any offered for sale??? But not buying any in the market to keep the price steady??? | robertfaulkner
20/1/2015 16:56 | Nearly there, but not over the line Down a bit at the end but up 1.6p on the day I couldn't even get a quote(at 16:07) for 5200 shares, only 2000 shares and best was Bid 377.81 I didn't take it Very low volume so I don't think I'll be able to sell them, even in 2 goes unless the volume picks up Tomorrow's another day | robertfaulkner
19/1/2015 22:18 | RF Good luck, I hope that you get over the line. red | redartbmud
19/1/2015 21:14 | Woodcutter, well spotted, Alent up nearly 12p at close. When you posted at midday it was only up a fraction I have limit sell at 379p, with the wide spread I need another 12p rise tomorrow to strike. | robertfaulkner
19/1/2015 11:59 | algorithmic trades and the the dark pool! I would have thought with the drop in commodity prices and lower energy costs ALNT would be a beneficiary. I continue to hold and will add on TA chart weakness. Woody | woodcutter
07/1/2015 22:39 | Great minds think alike, but my disposal was a little more modest. | redartbmud
07/1/2015 15:06 | Jp Morgan offload 3 million shares | wipo1
05/1/2015 19:21 | RF I am puzzled, except that it must be computer generated trades, triggered by some algorithm or other IMHO, coupled with thin trading volumes perhaps? It could just as easily kick on as fall back. Having lost out so many times when the Sp has fallen back, whilst I dithered, I took the plunge. Hargreaves are showing a PE of 15.25 and a yield of 2.24%, which is not too demanding, but these are fickle markets. My own general opinion on the indices is to the downside at present, as all of the news appears to be negative and is building up a head of steam. It will be hard to see the Sp kick on, but I will just have to take it on the chin and count my gains. Anyway, with the dow collapsing there might be chances opening up elsewhere. Not a recommendation, just my thoughts. red | redartbmud
05/1/2015 18:31 | As Red says what is all those 100 share deals about? It can't be to stop the share price rising too much, maybe it pushes the share price up more than the total of all those 100 deals in one go????? | robertfaulkner
05/1/2015 18:23 | Red well done, I'm always too greedy, I have mine still(for months) on a limit sell (all from demerger) at, don't laugh, 379p When it drops back below 320p, I'll kick myself. The only thing going for Alent, is a close up today of over 4%, on a terrible FTSE day | robertfaulkner
05/1/2015 16:16 | wipo Sold 2 lots today @ 339 & 344 respectively. Just looked at trades and there are multiple buys of 100 shares going through. I am not sure what is happening, but a bird in the bank is better than a bird shot down by a hunter. Nice profit on both. I can't see why they will not go above 350, except for the market conditions at present. red | redartbmud
05/1/2015 15:23 | Sods law I sell and it goes up lol. I would be better staying 100pc in cash | wipo1
05/1/2015 12:38 | RF Was I right, or was I right? red | redartbmud
02/1/2015 17:59 | RF Keep the faith, it will get there IMHO. red | redartbmud
02/1/2015 15:36 | Not a bad estimate (Red) it got to 338.3 today | robertfaulkner
31/12/2014 19:55 | Yes prices all over the place today. I had £2.5k sat in a NISA, so I invested it in Alnt at £3.24, adding to my holding. Just a punt, but I will not be surprised to see £3.40 soon. Not a recommendation. | redartbmud
31/12/2014 13:46 | Betman, yes price movement has been strange. I sold 330p ish a week or so ago and was hard to get a quote moved into rmg so fairly happy would consider buying this circa 300p | wipo1
31/12/2014 13:41 | I noticed that there were two price auctions at the close at 12.30pm, may be significant or completely irrelevent. | betman
22/12/2014 18:22 | Thanks Rabbar all the best. | wipo1
20/12/2014 16:00 | Thanks wipo, you too. This shows everyone's circumstances are different and the most important thing is to have a strategy, as sitting on shares indefinitely (as some do) is not the best plan, and can be a recipe for disaster, as 2008 shows. | rabbar |
