08/10/2017 22:05 | Ilmenite prices firm, India boosts imports By CAMERON PERKS Published: Thursday, 28 September 2017 India has escalated African ilmenite imports to fill a domestic shortfall as prices firm. Meanwhile seaborne ilmenite bound for China is set to rise in price amidst supply constraints and environmental clampdowns in China. Ilmenite prices have firmed in September after a period of uncertainty that resulted in a widening of price ranges and a short-lived period of stagnation. Prices have begun strengthening since the start of the month on the back of Chinese mine closures as well as declining Chinese and Vietnamese supply, said one... | moneymunch

08/10/2017 10:56 | Thule Black Sands, Greenland Alba has been granted two exclusive mineral exploration licences covering 290 km² of prospective coastline in the Thule province of north-west Greenland. Black heavy mineral sands have been recorded in the region for many decades. The sands are enriched with ilmenite and/or magnetite. The Geological Survey of Demark and Greenland ("GEUS") has recently estimated that 10 billion tonnes of ilmenite exist in the original rock within the entire Thule region, with a further 7 billion tonnes of ilmenite present in the form of placer ilmenite. While non-JORC compliant, this highlights the potential of the province to host economic detrital ilmenite on Alba's licence area. According to GEUS, elevated ilmenite concentrations are recorded on both active and raised beaches. metal prices soaring....copper... | dreamtwister

06/10/2017 09:58 | Ged5: Spot on. However, the significance of the article is not limited to the potential for Titanium in battery technology. It highlights the stupidity of getting hung up on any one specific chemistry in the battery tech space. Here we have a few posters wetting their pants over ALBA's graphite potential only to discover that graphite may be completely sidelined as an anode material by new chemistries such as this. Here it is again: BTW I have yet to understand where ALBA's involvement with graphene comes from. | shavian |
