Peculiar price action to a small institutional sell representing only 1.6% of the company. You'd expect to see such price action on a large insider dump for fear of it being a signal on the valuation of the company. I guess it is somewhat odd to have to place like that with such a small chunk of the company.

On balance though, I have bought some as a trading position on this plunge down at 73p. Stop at under the intraday low of 70p. A recovery to at least 80p looks sensible based on what appears to be an overreaction.

All imo

I'm not too au fait with AAF but just trying to take advantage of a possible Mr Market spasm.

Have had these on my watch and thought a good time to dip ones toe :)

Sorry , No idea. This is a holding that I haven't really looked at that closely since buying. For me it’s (hopefully) a safe, divi paying utility play on African development. A long term hold bought on the cheap.
So far so good.

I’m curious as to how much the sale of the towers is going to raise and if material on the share price here - discussions progressing well ? Good steady share price climbs recently

Bodes well all things being equal with 3 vaccines underway, reducing threat in Africa over the coming months and incresing sales.

Selling of some 4,500 tower assets (to then lease back), in order to reduce debt. No bad thing.

Fantastic recent gains - I wouldn’t think all of it is attributed to Covid vaccine and positive sentiment

Yes overall the results looked very positive - particularly the mobile banking for me - further growth. One thing i don’t like though and that is in respect of accounts being unaudited.

It's down because there's a small crisis in Nigeria. Military killed and injured unarmed protesters.

I thought the figures were good. typically the share price has dropped, but that often happens when news is out. I agree about paying down debt. If you take the long term view, then there are a lot of positives here.I am less worried than when I first invested and will think about adding.4.7% approx divi is not to be sneezed at.

Results seem ok.
They are trading well. The new dividend policy has taken some of the cream off the top for me but I suppose it is sensible to pay down debt. The yield is still 4.7% at 65p so it is fine and i has the scope to rise at some point.
Elsewhere we see some legal wranglings going on but not that material and some currency weakness. This is more of a concern with earnings in so many volatile currencies with the earanings expressed in USD but the shares quoted in UK pence. Maybe it all cancels out?
I'll hold and await further news and the dividend.

Anyone else raising an eyebrow at the amount of personal fortune non exec Shravin Mittal has invested in Airtel Africa. Since Dec last year it’s at least £20m. Avg purchase price around 79/80p per share. He is the son of the chairman of Bharti Enterprises - - who happen to hold just under 3.5% of the co. Bharti Airtel some 56%.

Also, NYASA times, October 10th:
“Tax collector, Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) and Airtel Money have announced a partnership that will enable registered taxpayers to pay their taxes, both Domestic and Customs duties, via Airtel Money.”

Good news coverage recently - all adds up.

Just an article for info:
“Airtel Africa is expanding its strategic partnership with Ericsson to enable 4G coverage in Kenya. With Ericsson’s Radio Access Network (RAN) and packet core products for 4G, Airtel subscribers will experience enhanced quality of voice and data.
President of Ericsson Middle East and Africa, Fadi Pharaon, said: “Together with Airtel, we will implement this project that aims to establish an advanced LTE network in Kenya, providing Airtel’s customers an enriched experience – both in the consumer and business segments. Through this partnership, we reaffirm our ambition to set #AfricaInMotion by partnering with Airtel to grow and support an increasingly digitalised society in Kenya.”
