Forex losses quite large, but the beast has a dominant market position which appears to be growing as well IMO, so future cash flow generation and de-leveraging and yield increases look good value IMO....DYOR

A strong set of results imo and creating a moat against rivals. I'm not sure I understand your comments about the $US Johnrx99? Please can you explain how you think this affects the company.

I hope you're right re the market. The figures look soft to me because of the strong US$.

It's a big old beast and I don't have a detailed handle on it but things look to be going well enough, debt down, EPS down a little but most of the rest of the metrics are up 10-15%, inc customer numbers up 10% . This is future growth.Cash flow excellent , so no problem paying off debts due in 2024.
I like the financial services business they have inside the company which powers ahead again with income up 37%.
I would expect a positive reaction to these results.

That will only make a % point or two difference.

The short term risk at least is that the spectrum costs add to the debt and the market won't like that until earnings grow. So I'm expecting a de-rating. This is contrary to the Wall st analysis:

Trading at 76.3% below our estimate of its fair value
Earnings are forecast to grow 13.28% per year
Earnings have grown 30.3% per year over the past 5 years
Trading at good value compared to peers and industry

Which one of us will prove to be right?

this should benefit from the dollar softening.

Yesit would be useful to have a trading update. RNS today:
Airtel Africa, a leading provider of telecommunications and mobile money services, with a presence in 14 countries across Africa, will announce its results for the nine month period ended 31 December 2022 on Thursday, 2 February 2023.

It can be argued that AAF have overpaid for the spectrum licence.
My take is that they bit the bullet and made the deal, which was absolutely necessary for the future. So more good than bad, IMO.
Today's drop isn't really significant. Just the share price bouncing around.

Perhaps how will it be funded?
Anyway, I think it's just trading activity - it's had a fairly regular pattern recently.
Look forward to next Q's results ...

Today's RNS should have been received as good news, why the drop?

OMG.....There is broke and totally out of touch. its not JEALOUSY you moron its total and utter filthy inequality, and its HER investment you are right. But DADDY GAVE IT TO HER.....ffs.
When did i say i wanted a broke PM who struggles to feed his family?.
what I DONT WANT....is an upper class rich pig chosen by the old boys club...similar to osborne/cameron. Oh they went to Eton so they must know better. I WANT someone who at least represents the majority of the people they are constantly tell us they are serving.

So if you ever get divs from your investments then will you be giving them back !!.... I think not.And it's not daddy who is giving her the money, it's her investment returns.Jealousy is horrible mate, accept her and him for what they are & they have done nothing wrong. In fact they have enough money to retire anywhere yet they choose to work & be in focus - but off course you will call that greed & power hungry !!So according to you, you would like a PM who is broke, struggles to feed his family, has no education, does not own a property and is in debt !. Because then he would know how to run a country & look after its residents !And you call me brainless :-) ???

Just because daddy gives her 11 mill a year does not mean shes any good at money management?? omg. as for sunak himslef he was bought a flat by daddy too in kensington he still owns it. They are totally OUT OF TOUCH. Perhaps you are too, Utter guff "self made man" hahahahaha.

Totally agree !The man has got there on merit & not because of his bank balance. He was voted in by the MPs that the country voted for.The MPs know his talents & hence he was in the lead in each stage of the election. The only time he lost was when it went to the members & we all know what happened after that !!?

Just because he's made money doesn't make him fit for being the PM of a former wealthy country. Indeed, to me it spells a single mindedness which is totally unsuited to govern a population of nearly 70,000,000 people.

Sorry but it needed a reply imo.

I think you'll find that our PM is self made man, he has built his own fortune. As for his wife, what's wrong with the money she has, its legal and fair dos to her daddy for setting up a company that is worth billions.Would you rather have someone who knows about money management then someone who spends spends & spends knowing he has nothing in his pockets! As said, you are on a BB that is there to help make money & now you are complaining about someone who has made it !!Get off the jealousy track & celebrate the success....one day you may also be successful !!?

Agree QS99. This is a board about Airtel, not UK political figures that have nothing to do with this company. Let's stick to informative views.
