Of course as 5pm is the deadline we will probably find out after the close of the market today, rather than during market hours.

or maybe it just is what it says on the tin
and at 5pm they say the most obvious that we not making a bid
if there were making a contested bid logically it would have been by now,
and an agreed bid no reason why the deadline should be the driver of a timetable
so i think logically the most likely that no bid
no possible to sell any shares but i see that a buy went through...
and it is still possible to buy although not in scale
maybe that is a bluff

anyway, tell will tell

Talk about going to the wire - perhaps we have complications.

i imagine coolen is referring to business practicalities.

the value of the business is a spectrum
and I'm sure the directors have some influence to 'recommend' a price to the biggest shareholders.

i think coolen was alluding to the fact that the future salaries and bonus arrangements for the directors are thus as also relevant to negotiations
as the actual price for the shares.

the last minute nature is exciting
but trying to stick to my gut instinct (and be prepared for price fall)
which is a JHD walk away because they wouldn't offer enough

Must admit I was expecting a 7am RNS too. I'm not sure what conclusion to draw from the lack of one. Maybe it's going down to the wire and James Halstead are trying to get an agreement to a price from Airea and have not yet been able to do so. Who knows.

Well, no rns first thing this morning. Rather surprised but not sure that we can read anything into it as they are only obliged to inform the market by 5.00 pm. Still, you would have thought that if there is nothing doing then they would have announced it first thing and then got back to work.
Coolen, I am intrigued by your comment but unsure as to what you are suggesting. Can you enlíghten me please.

We will not be told, but could "inducements" (such as directors' employment contracts) be an on-going issue with The Panel?

yes - you'd imagine that if it has gone to the last day that JHD has at least decided to make a bid.

you'd also imagine that since AIEA have had time to consider that the bid offer must have been within an acceptable ball park or they would have rejected outright.

So seems logical to conclude that it is a question of price.

I still doubt that JHD will cough up enough given the worth of AIEA,
but hopefully we will at least get to know what JHD offered
as this will give some sort of medium term support to the price.

all idle speculation at this stage,
tomorrow will be interesting

If it runs up to the wire - they must be very serious, otherwise they would have walked away before now. So, either a bid, or a close miss, methinks.

Hi All,

Very sorry about that, although we're all somewhat correct.

I was just taking a quick look-see to check on the date and had chosen to view the RNS from JHD of 4-4-2018. In that RNS they say May 3, although I see they followed it up on 5-4-2018 with a replacement RNS which has the date of May 2.

Apols if my note gave anyone the tremors...

Airea's RNS of 5th April gives tomorrow, 2nd May, as the deadline:

"In accordance with Rule 2.6(a) of the Code, James Halstead is required, by no later than 5.00 p.m. on 2 May 2018, to either announce a firm intention to make an offer for Airea in accordance with Rule 2.7 of the Code or announce that it does not intend to make an offer...."

Still, a couple of days to go before the deadline of yea or nay.

In accordance with Rule 2.6(a) of the Code, James Halstead is required, by no later than 5.00 p.m. on 3 May 2018, to either announce a firm intention to make an offer for Airea in accordance with Rule 2.7 of the Code or announce that it does not intend to make an offer....

There's significant upside/value to this stock even without a bid so I wouldn't be worried about a temporary fall back to 50p.
