31/7/2015 17:39 | Damn just read the news about this company. I remember looking in here when it was near 90p. Sorry for people that have lost their money, it sucks and I've been there when l lost money with Cattles PLC another FTSE250 company but luckily back during the recession when l started investing had my cash spread around. Good luck to all. | smurfy2001

31/7/2015 17:20 | Egberts response looks like a copy and paste job response to all emails. IIRC he had £5m in shares here. I really hope you didn't lose the entire £500k. | ![]() whiskeyinthejar

31/7/2015 17:08 | Bob2011food.I genuinely feel very sorry for you, but why did you invest everything here, that's utter madness. The stark reality is it was you that pressed the buy button, you didn't have too and you could have diversified, so unfortunately a large slice of the blame lies with you.Sorry, but that's the deal investing in stocks.. | kidknocked
31/7/2015 16:19 | Guys to say I am peeved and incensed is an understatement The BOD have robbed the company of the assets Many questions need to be answered in particular why the board never agreed a merger or a takeover from SEPLAT Furthermore I will be investigating with my solicitors on Monday whether I have grounds to take a private action against CEO Osman Shahenshah, and former COO Shahid Ullah to the misuse of companies monies and for the collapse in of Afren, thus causing my investment to worthless which inturn they have caused partly or fully. I have enough money to throw at this if there is an action to be had Will update this board once I have answers I urge other shareholders independently to seek legal advice whether a claim has merit, I believe it does | ![]() bigboots
31/7/2015 15:25 | When you do the tax return it's offset against capital gains. The Taxcalc software works it out automatically, so I am not sure how it affects income tax. The two are intertwined because you pay a higher rate cgt if you already have a certain amount of income. Best thing to do is record the loss on the form. It can be used any time in the future if you have a capital windfall that is taxable. But, for details and permutations, check with an accountant. They are worth the money when finances come from various sources. | ![]() cephalosaurus
31/7/2015 15:09 | Well I bailed out and lost a few grand a few months ago but I remember a lass called tpau on here had her entire life savings in this and lost the lot! :-/ | leopold555
31/7/2015 14:39 | Very different and only is special circumstances. A PLC going bust unfortunately isn't one of them. Sorry. | ![]() sleveen
31/7/2015 14:30 | Really sorry for all you guys. Ceph is that against income tax or capital gains? I was under the impression it could go against capital gains but Pinemartin was asking about income tax which I think is different? | ![]() reesyheli

31/7/2015 13:42 | Without using an accountant, you can get HMRC approved software to submit a return electrnically. For example, Taxcalc. | ![]() cephalosaurus
31/7/2015 13:40 | Of course you can offset it. You have to register the loss on an HMRC tax return, as you would have to register gains. You can carry the loss for ever, until such time you make a gain to offset it against in the future. You must fill out a return for tax year april 2015-2016. If you work p.a.y.e., you fill out the tax return, making a note of your earnings as an employee, and in the capital gains tax section, you put details of each trade you made. | ![]() cephalosaurus

31/7/2015 13:05 | I know c'est la vie. My average price was 1.11 so thought I had lots of scope to take the downside. The worst thing has been watching it go down day by day and not having the brains to sell and take a loss but retain some cash. Sounds simple in hindsight but a painful lesson for me and one that tells me I don't have the correct psychological make up for shares. | ![]() pinemartin9
31/7/2015 13:01 | Leeson31 - congrats on MONI and AFR. Pinemartin9 - commiserations but next time never put all your eggs into one basket? | ![]() tradejunkie2
