Hi folks,

here's a free trade for you . Price now is sitting at 7305 ( I cannot rule out 7225or below) but I am long here and looking for 7.4% on my trading pot with an exit target 7452.

You're welcome

If anyone has any spare stock they want to get rid of at a nominal value I'd be a buyer. Need around 750,000 shares willing to pay 0.1p/shr plus any dealing costs you incur to transfer the stock to my broker.

kching - that's brightened the afternoon!

And that's done interesting things to my email as I had 65 positions close out simultaneously.

Worth noting that IG are just following internal procedure. Nothing wrong in that

Thank you for that mrwhits1 I was ripped off by IG Index many years ago!

I am guessing that IG Index have not settled Long positions either?

You would guess the same rules should apply to each?

IG haven't settled my short position.

they say they cannot until the shares are cancelled in crest, so that their brokers can settle their positions, then they (IG) can settle their clients positions.

all a bit lame really, and one that has given me reason not to give them any more trade, so I moved to Interactive Brokers instead.

regards

No, and won't be for some time according to the administrators.

Best forget about it until at least next summer (2017), that's when the administration runs out.....that is unless the creditors vote to extend it. Shareholders don't get a say in that as they are not regarded as creditors by UK law according the administrators.

It's a real bummer, as the administrators openly say there is nothing for shareholders, on more than one occasion, but won't cancel the shares in crest yet etc etc etc.....

Feel free the email them, afren@alixpartners

Regards

Mrwhits.

Anyone know when we can put our loss against CGT

I'm in the lucky position of having made £13k profit(£11,100 tax free allowance) in shares this financial year (end Apr 5th). The first time for many years

It's only a small loss as I only invested £800 near the end. Selftrade still show me as only having lost £500 with the market value as £300.

I know they are worthless but it would be nice to put the £800 loss against my profits when I do my tax return in a couple of months

This is the end beautiful friend. The End.

26/2/16. Letter received from Alix Partners concerning the administration of Afren.

"As detailed in the report, due to the substantial shortfall to creditors, there will be insufficient funds to enable a return to the company's shareholders. ....Under UK insolvency legislation, shareholders are not considered to be creditors of the company and are therefore not entitled to participate in any distribution to the company's creditors."

You live and learn. The benefit of hindsight. At one time my investment in Afren was worth £50k. Now worth zilch. I've been royally screwed, been stuck like a deer in the headlights and also had some bad luck. All decisions made or not made were mine. A lesson learnt the hard way. I've probably lost about £22k on my original investment but a max loss of £50k from what they were worth.

Always use a stop loss. Never fall in love with a share and don't put all your eggs in one basket. Simples. Oh yeah, that last one is especially true if they are a Nigerian oil and gas company,

I'll recover - that £50k would have been useful now though!

Live long and prosper.

Ldlv - once again you show up your lack of real world business experience. Only corporate Afren is in administration, the opcos continued as before. You know this. Thus a liability accrued only by an opco does not pass up unless there is a parent company guarantee. The opco itself is an asset of Afren and is sold whole, both assets and liabilities. For non-income generating companies their financial state deteriorates over time. Eventually the OPL310 subsidiary would be declared bankrupt.

Your lifetime battle will be a lonely one, without anyone to even battle against.
