Haggis, it's one of those coasters sinking and someone sent a distress signal. If it moves the price up then keep sending.

Sustainable transport

At today’s event, the four business area Presidents will present their product portfolios that enable sustainable transport, representing in total ~10% of Group order intake. ABB has been outperforming this market segment for the last five years, growing at an estimated 17% per annum and expects to continue to outgrow the market, which is estimated to show double-digit growth in the mid-term. Key product drivers will be EV charging for cars and busses, traction systems in railways, trucks and mines and green hydrogen technology in the marine sector.

One particular highlight is the growing demand for electric vehicles (EVs), whose sales are expected to exceed non-EV sales by 2035*, driven by the global electrification, decarbonization and digitalization trends. For example, the Robotics division is the second largest provider of technology for the assembling of the powertrain and battery, the car body, as well as the painting and sealing of EVs. Furthermore, ABB is the leading company for charging solutions (AC & DC) to passenger e-cars, e-buses and e-trucks, as well as rail infrastructure.

Electric vehicle boom fuels rise in UK new car sales. The number of new cars sold in the UK rose for the first time in four months in November, fuelled by a doubling of sales of electric vehicles as consumers increasingly look to more environmentally friendly forms of transport..Almost 22,000 pure electric vehicles were registered in November, more than double the 10,345 registered in the same month last year, as the share of total sales accounted for by battery-powered electric vehicles climbed to 19%..Sales of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles also rose 40% year on year, to 10,796, meaning in total 28% of cars sold in November were capable of zero-emission driving. Meanwhile, sales of diesel vehicles continued to plummet, down 63% compared with a year ago, while new petrol vehicle sales were down 10%.."The continued acceleration of electrified vehicle registrations is good for the industry, the consumer and the environment," Hawes said. "But with the pace of public charging infrastructure struggling to keep up, we need swift action and binding public charger targets so that everyone can be part of the electric vehicle revolution, irrespective of where they live.".The SMMT said the ratio of electric vehicles to each public charger had reached 16 to one, and only one new charger was installed for every 52 plug-in cars registered so far this year.

It is so blatant how the whole sector and anything remotely 'connected' get tossed about - all up earlier - all down now.

ITM price

AFC price

CWR price

Consolation - we are not alone. CWR, ITM and most of the US hydrogen stocks were down heavily on Friday and US are down in pre-market today. The markets overall are still highly uncertain about the impact of the new covid variant. UNtill that becomes clear there will be volatility.

Hicon There are lot companies working towards using ammonia as as the primary fuel for ships - upto and including large scale container/bulk carries etc. As Haggis says you crack it and use it fuel cells to replace heavy oil/diesel engines.

Ammonia has the huge advantage of being produced at huge scale globally, and stored and transported on a large scale so the handling technologies are well understood. Also easier than high pressure liquid hydrogen to handle. A very workable solution for marine - no way batteries will do this.

The more ports, ship owners and ship builders get engaged the quicker the infrastucture will get built and adopted and the scale of use will spin up.

So that is good for AFC in the shipping market segment we are now in.

You can parallel the idea with EVs. More EVs gets more chargers attracts more Ev users attracts more models/manufacturers etc etc
