07/4/2006 08:00 | Wookey bear in mind that those load factors also include flights for teh mining firms which as has just been recently signed are paid per annum not per seat, so you could theoretically fly with one miner on board and still receive the same as a full flight.. | bigdunc
06/4/2006 16:27 | clive One day, when you grow a brain, you'll be able to work out what is a buy and sell. | frank spencer

06/4/2006 11:50 | Thanks Frank...appreciate the feed back... I agree the vast majority of airlines loose money hand over fist, especially in the American market (where chapter 11 laws make for a very unhealthy situation as far as I am concerned). But I am sure you will agree September 11th made for a much leaner airline sector, lead by BA in the flag carrier sector, not forgetting the the tremendous success of the budget airline sector, Europe and world wide, and initialised in Australasia by Virgin Blue. Neither I nor I assume you know if anyone else tendered for this contact, and although ferrying miners around WA isn't as glamorous as taking business passengers first class to New York it is none the less a valuable part of there business. And a sizeable contract. The contract is fixed, so doesn't rely on load factors, so weather the plane has 2 on board or 200 they still receive there A$3.2m p/a. Importantly this airline is profitable and cash positive. Yes they are peripheral, but time will tell weather they can branch out from there WA base. Just my opinions of course.. Rgds | bigdunc
06/4/2006 11:14 | dunc Certainly. The vast majority of airlines lose money hand over fist. They have 'won' a contract that no one else would probably be bothered with. Revenues of barely over £1mln to run shuttles into the middle of nowhere against what costs ? The planes are likely to be nearly empty a lot of the time, and it looks like it will inevitably be a loss making exercise. They are a bit part peripheral airline set to follow the fortunes of many other airlines that have tried and failed imo. rgds Frank Laker | frank spencer
06/4/2006 10:49 | Passenger numbers for the month increased by 20.51% over the previous year. Skywest traffic, measured by Revenue Passenger Kilometres (RPKs) increased by 20.52%, while capacity, measured by Available Seat Kilometres (ASKs) increased by 19.07% over the same period. Load Factor increased by 0.66pts to 54.36% compared to the previous year. Nice increase in figures I must say and with yesterdays contract it seems as this will go places for those prepared to wait. | knowing
06/4/2006 08:59 | Another positive RNS. jd just the sual IPO sell off | knowing |
