Stargazer,

Thanks for your post. It is much nicer knowing that there are some holders around and that the thread is serving some purpose.

I had read (I think on their website) about the anti-counterfeit chips but I had assumed that it would be some way off adoption. Can I ask where you heard that they had some interest from some big name players?

My awareness of the massive significance of ITSO has grown over the last 3 weeks the more I have read. What was helpful about my conversation with Mr Braddock yesterday was confirmation both that the impression I had of the massive potential was accurate but that ITSO, while significant, does not dominate their business or their forecasts....

Happy to be holding.

There is no published Annual report & Accounts yet as this is their first year as a plc. Howveer a search at Companies House shows that the business before flotation was called Ecebs Group Ltd which has filed accounts for the year to sep 05

Colsmith,

Thanks for your comments. Re the bull/bear assessment of the 12.5% I agree with you. To be honest it had been suggested that I post something up on PaulypilotsPub on TMF and I wanted to try to make that as balanced as possible - I was struggling to find bear points...... :0)

I had the good pleasure of speaking to David Braddock, MD late yesterday. I did ask about that and his response was simply that they made a decision to raise only what was needed as it was needed....

As it happens I hold WLF shares bought at the time of the revenue warning a year or so back. It looks that way doesn't it. A great small-cap growth story that is already trading profitably and with massive future potential. What more could you want? Oh yes - for Mr Brown to make AIM a recognised market for the purposes of ISAs.....

Sorry that you felt insecure and that no one was listening. I bought a week ago. This one is higher risk given the small capitalisation and the usual technology dangers but, if one is patient, I think that it is well worth holding. I understand that the company also has technology which can be used to combat the sale of counterfeit goods where the quality of the counterfeits means that they are difficult to detect. By including a very small chip in the design of the product, the authorities can use readers to confirm that the product is genuine. If not, they can more easily charge the culprits. I understand that big names are seriously interested.

Garth, I don't usually take notice of "tips" on BB threads but this one from you is a little interesting. Your summary on top is well balanced although I'm not sure the low float on the market (12%) is necesarily a bear point; although it could result in large unsupportable moves but it does show that the orignators holding most stock have a great deal to gain by being succesful so it may be more a bull point. Anyhow definelty with the smartcard market its in - one to watch. Maybe another Wolfson - thats Scottish too.

The pdf on the 4MByte card jointly developed with ATMEL (purchased smart card division of Motorola) showed two things of partuclar interst IMO - 1) the product is developed and avaible and ISO standardised, the two authors have many years in the smart card business.

Thanks.

Garth,

"25,000,000 new Ordinary Shares have been issued at 3 pence per shares."
From the RNS of 14.12.2005, so possibly £500 profit for someone. We all need to raise some cash from time to time.

AW,

I had read that the placing was at 4p. However, digging around yesterday I found a piece that said it was 3p. I'll have to check when I get a moment (buried under work the last couple of days). If it was indeed at 3p, but opening at 4p first day of trading then that might explain the sale. Alternatively, someone buying at the two lows in February might also have scalped a small profit....

The placing was at 4p - odd that someone would take a fairly substantial percentage loss albeit on a fairly small £4000 stake.

Welcome! Its getting busy :0)

All the best with these. IMO, on the available information, they look a sound investment with none of the guesswork attached to holding NXT. The key now is patience.....

As an AIM stock they cannot go in an ISA - why Mr Brown can't 'recognise' aim I don't know - a few years back he certainly said he would.

Kind regards all,

G.

Layabout,

I think the comparision with IND is a good one. It has been possible to trade within the spread at times but yes, its a bit of a killer. On a longer hold though........

I'm in for nearly £4k, albeit paying top whack unfortunately. I used to know the FD where I worked before and also met their head of business development during some roadshows we did together a few years ago. All the same people are still there by the looks of it. Always seemed a straight bunch and excited and knowledgeable about their market place. Not always enough to guarantee success on its own but a good start.
Seems a good, low valuation opportunity in a growing market and nicely profitable already. Shame about the spread! Here's hoping for another IND.

Thanks guys - feeling much better now :0) I am absolutely no expert in this field and no expert on the company. I do, however, enjoy the search for information and piecing the picture together. The circumstances here seem to have thrown up a small, profitable growth story in emerging technology with niche market advantage but little attention (as yet) from the investment community. On that basis it looks a great opportunity but may require some patience while the wider market catches up. I'll keep hunting and keep posting up my findings.

Archa,

I spoke to one of the analysts at SVS and he was going to get back to me, bu hasn't. I'll try to get in contact again. At present the company are directing questions of a financial nature to SVS. SMRT themselves have answered a couple of technical questions for me. I think it is probably going to take until the finals to get a really clear picture - but the interims should help along the way.

Bonty,

I too like the fact that there is a track-record of profitability and that forecasts are for a steady increase in that for the next couple of years before a step-change up in 2008. I asked the broker about that and they seemed quite comfortable that those forecasts werer well grounded but couldn't tell me exactly why due to operational confidentiality. They did say that certain orders were in the pipeline that were going to take that sort of timescale to deliver.

Purgachev,

I was suprised that they only placed 12.5% and only raised £750K. My assumption has been that this was all they needed to raise at this stage and assume that they may sell some more off at a later stage when the company is much larger..... The result of that is bound to be limited institutional interest. But it does give a rare opportunity for the small guy?

Kind regards,

G.

Hi Garth
Keep up good work - am lurking and this is on the watchlist - not buying at the moment as fully invested elsewhere. Use oyster card and like the look of this one. bit concerned of only 12.5% shares in free float - In your opinion is there any danger of the management repurchasing 2.5% and effectively taking it back to private?

Garth,

You are not alone!
I bought a few of these yesterday too after reading your copious and most informative posts and the company's websites.
It certainly gives the impression of being a winner in the not too distant future although I am (like Archa) not very well informed re the technology involved. There looks to be a huge market out there and I particularly like the fact that the company is already in profit and has a strong order book.
Keep up the good work Garth!

Garth,

No you are not talking to yourself. I bought again yesterday, twice. However, as I am not greatly knowledgeable in the smartcard card field, there is not a great deal I can contribute to this aspect of the company's operations. I do have a gut feel that this could be a real winner. I am trying to find a copy of the last set of accounts, preferably annual as the recent trading statement, issued on 8th February, whilst bullish in tone did not reveal very much.

If you know where there might be a set of accounts on a web site, I would appreciate being pointed in the right direction. Failing that, I will write to the company for a copy.

I do appreciate what you have posted to date and trust that this will continue whenever possible.

MM's moving it up more than 5% on £1500 worth of shares. There were some largish trades moving last week but all pre-arranged/between MMs/Brokers. It will be interesting to see how the MMs deal with any significant flow of buying - as SMRT begin to hit radars the volumes will begin to build IMO.

DYOR.
