12/12/2005 12:35 | I have a lot of holdings up today - seems to be a smallcap thing. In my experience it takes a move of more like 20% without news to get a comment from the company. | aleman
12/12/2005 12:10 | I wonder what % a share has to go up, or down, before a company has to make an official announcement even merely to state it knows no reason for share movement? | liveinhope
12/12/2005 11:53 | Blimey! Is there a bid coming? Or is it just the SETS system making things volatile? | aleman
12/12/2005 10:30 | 3 big trades at 280p clearly not sells to lift the share price so much. But does it mean something is coming? | aleman
12/12/2005 10:24 | Aleman - looks like an ace call by you given current rises today. Was 309,000 transaction today a buy? | liveinhope

06/12/2005 10:41 | Anyone know if they still have their Deltron holding that they certanly once had? | liveinhope
06/12/2005 10:12 | Is it another of the shares now trading with the SETS system? That seems to encourage rapid short term moves. The old system would have only moved a few pence given the amount of buying. | aleman
06/12/2005 09:41 | Aleman: I've been 'watching' these for ages and nearly bought yesterday, as I thought the results seemed to be telling us a 'bottom' was nearabouts. Then when the price dropped in the morning I reckoned I'd read them wrongly: silly me! The divi has been maintained all through the decline in results over the past couple of years, and is now only just covered. So that is, as you say, a bit of a gamble. One thing about this: when it moves it doesn't hang about. So best of luck here! | jonwig
06/12/2005 09:33 | Up sharply this morning! Not that many buys really, but nice anyway. | aleman
05/12/2005 17:04 | Nice end of day rise suggests the market agrees things may look a little less gloomy. | aleman

04/6/2001 08:55 | Acal profits rise but warns on growth By Gavin Montgomery Mon 4 Jun 2001 LONDON (SHARECAST) - Value-added electronics components distributor Acal today reported results showing that sales grew a third and profits rose over 60% last year, and said it plans to continue its expansion into Europe. But it warned that it expects to grow at a more moderate rate this year. Turnover for the year ended March 31 rose to £325m from £245m in the previous year, boosting profit before tax, goodwill and exceptionals to £22.6m from £14.4m. The market had expected profits of £21.9m. Acal provides specialist design-in, sales and marketing services for international suppliers in the fields of electronic components, information technology, IT parts services and industrial controls. It has operating companies in the UK, Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, France, Italy, Scandinavia and the US. Chairman John Curry said: "Rapid organic growth has taken us to a new and much higher level of profit. All divisions have performed well, and the organic increase in sales of 31% validates our strategy of value-added distribution driven by technology. We have achieved average organic growth during the last five years of 19%, and are confident of our ability to manage the business successfully through the trading cycles." However, Curry said there are signs that growth is moderating. "To date, we have not experienced any of the serious setbacks of which we have read so much in the press in the part of our business relating to the network and communications industry," he said. "We remain confident of our ability, as always, to manage the phase of the economic cycle being signalled by the slower order pattern in the last few months, and the excess stock levels of some of our customers." Rising demand for electrical components for use in third-generation mobile phone base stations and wireless communication networks is expected to fuel growth in Europe, and Acal is particularly interested in extending its operations in France. But the company said it is not looking to expand its US operations at present. Shares rose 5p this morning to 572p, capitalising Acal at £148m. Acal said it will pay an interim dividend of 5.5p a share, 20% higher than last year. | biomax |
