05/12/2021 19:53 | I had only 107 shares, held in the Aberdeen IT savings scheme. Opted for all cash. G OT ALL CASH - no china shares. | ![]() peckers56
18/11/2021 12:16 | In my case, perhaps because my holding is within a nominee account the mix was 65% Cash, 35% Stock?. I don't have a large holding and the 35% isn't worth holding anyway. Immediately sold and will avoid new investment in Aberdeen funds. | thephilsweet2
16/11/2021 09:10 | 1 I'm very unhappy with the Aberdeen decision. Of course, it's impossible to stop them. However, I shall remember it when evaluating other Aberdeen products in future. 2 Clearly I didn't understand the ANW announcement properly, as I thought the cash offer was heavily oversubscribed and scaled back. In practice, I got about 90% cash & 10% stock in UnwantedCo. | ![]() jonesj
10/11/2021 20:15 | I found the notification too late to register for voting, not that it would have made any difference. Personally I feel if Aberdeen had lost interest in running a Thailand fund they should have offered the option to liquidate and pass all the proceeds back to investors not just the ridiculous 15%, changing the remit so significantly without this offer seems underhand. We can see from the voting that most investors have no appetite for another Chinese fund, its not that I'm anti China, I simply have too many China funds already. I for one will sell asap and be avoiding the stupidly renamed Abdrn group from now on. | thephilsweet2
16/10/2021 10:51 | I've just joined AVDFN today to join this discussion as I'm so infuriated by the proposals set out in the recent circular by the Board of Aberdeen New Thai IT. I've been in contact with the Aberdeen IT Company Secretary, Stuart Reid, to obtain an invite to attend the meeting on the 26th. I have a lot of questions and criticisms to air! He told me, as our shares are in a Nominee account, that we need to obtain a Letter of Corporate Representation from our broker. Without that we'll be refused entry. I've just done that now. The board of directors is not acting in our best interests, but that's their job! Is anyone else here going to attend? | phardy1
14/10/2021 16:47 | Think you're right about it happening anyway, but we can at least try. Maybe a strong 'no' vote will encourage another company to start a Thai one-country investment trust. | cgmcgm
13/10/2021 11:35 | You don't get the cheque, your broker does who then puts the cash in your ISA. I doubt it's a cheque anyway. More like a bank transfer. | ![]() cc2014
13/10/2021 11:07 | I have voted against the change, but it's going to happen anyway. My first choice is the cash option as it's exiting at near NAV, rather than a 10% discount to NAV as present. However, I see some reference to cheques being sent to customers on 4 November. Since I hold within an ISA, I'm quite keen to see the money remain within the ISA, rather than get a damn cheque. I presume it remains in the ISA, but will contact AND and my broker. Has anyone else checked this ? | ![]() jonesj
10/10/2021 13:29 | Had a letter from them about changing the trust to invest in China instead of Thailand. It has underperformed during the pandemic, but was good before that, and there's no other London-listed Thailand specialist InvTrust. I will be voting against the change - it looks like an excuse to fire their Thailand team, and there are other ways to invest in China. I want to invest in Thailand long-term. | cgmcgm
23/8/2021 14:54 | thanks for pointing that out - have sold and moved the proceeds into HFEL | ![]() mister md
11/6/2021 19:36 | got in last week at 429p had it on my watchlist for a while, very quiet board this ;-) | ![]() mister md
10/6/2021 09:56 | First shoots of improvement for the Thai economy, had no direct exposure to emerging markets in portfolio so thought I take the plunge. Sat on the fence for a few weeks and missed the divi though. | ![]() andyadvfn1
10/9/2019 03:26 | Big hit here yesterday... perhaps on the news that higher Tourist numbers are leading to increased terrorism... WTF are the Thai's smokin'..? | ![]() steve73
27/2/2018 09:58 | bought some after the spread went to 1% and also XCX4 Thailand ETF. THD in US has been outperforming emerging markets in recent months, and long term substantially. Chinese tourists still flooding in, I think Thailand is leverage into Chinese discretionary spending. | ![]() m4ybe
02/11/2016 10:15 | Rallied significantly, no doubt due to weak Sterling | ![]() mister md
13/10/2016 14:43 | Guessing that this will dip significantly now the King has passed away. Think what you will of Monarchy, but I had the greatest respect for him, a true leader that will be sadly missed by the great majority of his intensely loyal subjects. | jph
04/3/2016 14:17 | Back in, I think this is the dip to buy chaps, the Chinese have arrived by car and plane and are buying up Thailand, best to buy first. | ![]() m4ybe
30/1/2014 03:51 | umitw - Amazed that you can blame the fund manager in this instance. Do you have any idea what is going on in Thailand right now? | ![]() roquefort
13/1/2014 09:15 | I was looking to buy these this mooring but the spread on Halifax is 3%. Is this normal for this share? | jgoold
02/1/2014 17:37 | What a disappointing fund!It is down 40% already. I think the fund manager should choose another profession IMO. | ![]() umitw
20/8/2013 10:11 | The lower the better ;-) Trading well below NAV. Time to start accumulating again soon chaps. Chok Dee :-) | ![]() sawadee3
24/6/2013 12:08 | How far this IT is going to sink, I wonder! | ![]() umitw |
