The client loans a catalogue of music to suit their business needs, that client will also pay royalty fees, 7dig gets paid for what they loan out and because its loaned it'll be returned at the end of the contract. Remember 7dig spent a fortune on it's music collection, which may I add is the largest collection in the Business To Business (B2B) globally. As the music industry has been crippled by this pandemic 7dig has looked at different avenues, including home fitness with intention of music to help with wellbeing, also introducing their expertise into online concerts... I could bore you even more but I'm afraid I'm off to top up my smartie

Does anyone know how the rights work - I mean actually know rather than theories as fact As supplier of the music to Triller, wouild 7Digital not have to pay the useage of the music and charge this back to Triller? Or is it just the end boradcaster that pays?

mdchand: good post, looks a bit like UMG trying to hold Triller to ransom, as Triller pays 7dig and i imagine 7dig pay UMG for the rights, so UMG look to want two pieces of the cake from what i can gather. A source familiar with UMG’s side of the situation also tells Rolling Stone that UMG’s deal with Triller actually ended over a year ago. Since then, UMG has been working with Triller under short-term extensions while negotiating a new deal. According to the source, Triller stopped paying a couple months ago, and then informed UMG that the app didn’t feel it needed a license from UMG a few weeks ago. The source says UMG was met with silence when the company tried to have a discussion around the matter. When the last renewal was up, UMG notified Triller that it would be telling Triller’s supply chain, 7digital, to no longer deliver UMG content to the platform. If these claims are indeed true, they completely contradict Lu’s apparent shock. Either way the share price doesn't look too concerned.

There is a thread saying 7Digital is getting sued in California - anyone know anything about this? They seem pretty legal to me - am suprised they aren't paying royalties where they should

I was thinking the same as poombear; this could well give a lot of companies the shock they need to make sure artists get paid and hopefully generate more contracts for 7dig.

It would be helpful if 7DIG could clarify what the issues are here with UMG and with ensuring artists receive the correct royalties. Are 7DIG part of the solution? It's not quite clear. hxxps://www.musicbusinessworldwide.com/universal-pulls-music-catalog-from-triller-says-tiktok-rival-has-shamefully-withheld-payments-owed-to-our-artists/

As poombear mentioned, Triller may not need UMG, or Triller simply dont honour existing contractual agreements......

I suppose today's news could be positive as it might fast track 7dig licensing services to Triller. Although without understanding the whole ecosystem, I may be wrong about that???

You can't concentrate too much on P/E on these types of shares. David Paul has a Vector Vest program and the software all about P/E which useful but doesn't work as an investment tool imho Different on a FTSE 250 or 100

Here are the earnings needed to support each price at different P/E ratios You would need 945000 (nearly a million of earnings) just to support todays price at a P/E of 50 - which is already very high I would love this to explode - but would need share buy backs and much more revenue Share Shares issued Price P/E Ratio Earnings Needed 7 Digital 2700000000 1.5 25 1620000 7 Digital 2700000000 1.5 50 810000 7 Digital 2700000000 1.5 100 405000 7 Digital 2700000000 1.75 25 1890000 7 Digital 2700000000 1.75 50 945000 7 Digital 2700000000 1.75 100 472500 7 Digital 2700000000 1.8 25 1944000 7 Digital 2700000000 1.8 50 972000 7 Digital 2700000000 1.8 100 486000 7 Digital 2700000000 2 25 2160000 7 Digital 2700000000 2 50 1080000 7 Digital 2700000000 2 100 540000 7 Digital 2700000000 3.5 25 3780000 7 Digital 2700000000 3.5 50 1890000 7 Digital 2700000000 3.5 100 945000 7 Digital 2700000000 20 25 21600000 7 Digital 2700000000 20 50 10800000 7 Digital 2700000000 20 100 5400000 7 Digital 2700000000 40 25 43200000 7 Digital 2700000000 40 50 21600000 7 Digital 2700000000 40 100 10800000 7 Digital 2700000000 100 25 108000000 7 Digital 2700000000 100 50 54000000 7 Digital 2700000000 100 100 27000000

Copied from the full year report...By contrast, in the first half of 2019, the Group was significantly impacted by the loss of its largest contract with European retailer MediaMarktSaturn ("MMS") to provide the music streaming service for its wholly-owned subsidiary, Juke Entertainment Gmbh ("Juke"). The Group had to take immediate action and agreed the sale of select technology from the Company and the transfer of staff to TDC Group for a total consideration of €1.375m in cash. This technology, which was only used by one customer, had become unprofitable to maintain.
