Bak is right though. Remember Maxwell? All the auditors had to do was say show us the proof of the millions you say is invested in other shares. In fact they had all been sold years before....

Auditors are very lazy. Typical British. They want to get paid a lot for doing very little.
They don't actually look at the books. That is hard work!
They take your drawn-up accounts and ask questions about them getting you to chase up documents just for the sake of it.
If they do that for small companies, one can imagine how long this can go on for a large company.
If all they did was take all the bank statements and loan agreements etc and reconcile them all, they would actually be providing a useful service to the public at large.
But, once again, that is hard work.

There can never be an excuse for not filing accounts on time.

It is symptomatic of a wider issue.

One of nine AIM companies temporarily suspended today due to late filing. Only 3 offerred an explanation, 7digital one of them.

But the returning mr Honey has some explaining to do

Depends on how long it takes to grind the auditors into submission imco - which might not be so easy given that they have become a tad more indefatigable since recent high profile auditor epic fails.

They've got better things to do than mess round with boring accounts stuff. There's table football, ping pong, cheese club and free fruit.

I've only listened to some of the Simon Cole podcast but it's not very impressive so far. He got into all this because he was a bit bored of making radio programmes, and cooked up the idea with Hossein Yassaie one evening at the Opera House. As you do.

I don't understand the 'audit process' excuse. These are results for the year ending 31 December. How much time do they want?

Tiger, do you mind me asking how you managed to correspond with him? I have tried 3 or 4 times in the past and never had a response.
I take it there was no new forecast for when the results were coming out?
Rigorous auditing process is still a pretty poor excuse for it taking soooooo long.

Had correspondence with SC.

He apologises for the delay due to more rigorous approach to the audit process. There is a board and audit committee meeting over the weekend. They know they have dropped the ball and apologise.

The good news he confirms there is nothing sinister, just bedding in new approach.

So hold (or buy) but other than a slap on the wrist business as usual

Results are delayed again. This is shambolic. It just shows what a complete lack of grip the directors have on the business in what should be a very straight forward business model. It's time the current board step down and hand over to a team that is capable of managing this company.
