As I said on the penny share thread, I wouldn't regard Gyllenhammer as a guy to follow myself, buying or selling.

I decided to buy because I like the new Chairman - look at his profile on the co websited.

The new CE looks a good move too imo.

All in all the director changes and the director buying are a decent indicator imo.

I wonder what they regard as a 'small profit'?

£70K in H1 and £140K in H2 would put them on a PE of ten and well into a recovery.

H2 is the strongest half.

They'll be agood 3 months into H2 by the interims.

AGM Statement and Trading Update

1st Dental Laboratories, the UK's largest and leading provider of dental
laboratory products to the dental profession, will hold its Annual General
Meeting today at 9.00 am at 112 Wetherby Road, Harrogate.

Grahame Sewell, Chairman, will provide the following trading update at today's
meeting:

On 23rd March 2010, I reported in my Chairman's Statement that the Board's
priority was to "manage a turnaround which can be sustainable and is not just a
quick fix. We are driving a turnaround strategy. We are managing cultural change
throughout the Group's trading operations. The Group's key objective is to
re-build shareholder trust."

I am pleased to report that the turnaround remains on course and trading is in
line with management's expectations and the Group's annual budget. The focus is
to manage the Group's existing operations more efficiently. This is being
achieved through providing improved customer service and choice to the Group's
dental clients. The Group continues to improve productivity in the laboratory
operations while maintaining tight control over central costs. The objective is
to be able to report a trading profit in this financial year.

The Group is expected to meet this target and show a trading profit. In the
half year to 31st May 2009, the Group reported a loss before tax of GBP315k. In
the current half year to 31st May 2010, we expect a return to profitability and
be able to report a small profit before tax. The second half of the financial
year is traditionally stronger than the first half because of seasonal factors.

I look forward to reporting to shareholders on the results for the half year to
31st May in due course.

ACTION TIME agm next week

Peter Gyllenhammar has set up a meeting with the board
i am sure he will come with number of proposals.
......................................
E-teeh the jewel in the crown

old article on e- teeth which explains well how it works

YOU may have flown on a budget airline, but now a Yorkshire company is offering budget dental supplies as people put off visiting their dentist because of the high costs.
Harrogate-based 1st Dental Laboratories has dubbed its new "e-teeth" online service, which offers crowns and bridge work at bargain prices, "the Ryanair of teeth".

They are offering dentists a no frills, better-value product
"It's for people who don't want to pay for the extras. We don't deliver, it has to be sent by post, but the quality is the same.

"Just as the budget airlines get you to Spain in the same way as the full service airlines, we can deliver the same quality product but without the frills. E-teeth is the Ryanair of teeth."

1st Dental expects e-teeth to grow rapidly over the coming year. Since its launch four months ago sales have increased by 38 per cent.

Mr Garner said that while these sales numbers were still relatively small, they had overtaken those of 1st Dental's smallest laboratory.

Yesterday the group reported new e-teeth sales to major corporate dentist groups and a number of independent dental practices.

"None of this discounted business has cannibalised our existing domestic sales," said Mr Garner.

E-teeth's products are made in China and are sold to British dentists at very competitive prices.

I think a lot hinges on this "sales team" that by all accounts have not yet done much.
Don't really understand how a VAT bill can still be in dispute from 3 years back.
Telling comment "I believe we have the full support of most of the employees"
less bullish on that than Willie Walsh!!!
Sadly, the math says they paid off the directors and senior managers who left with most outrageously high payoffs, new old directors and a new sales team come in, second rate surely.
The market leader, undercut by "a cottage industry" of tiny little labs and importers
I cannot see the bank advancing anymore and is managing to get the loan down, if they can carry on paying it down the bank will stay onside certainly
A name change might be a good idea; too much poor reputation too long.
I forsee an MBO if the price does not soon allow them to issue more equity (unlikely) but of course the MBO sadly for us will be from administration...
